The reason for the No Plot Armor Title which was never  explained is  because I personally dont think Ichigo is a benifactor of Plot Armor. I think he’s well written and Aizen planned EVERYTHING. So basically few things are actually lucky or convenient for Ichigo compared to….Luffy for example. There’s someone actually pulling the Strings behind the scenes for Ichigo often times and given his bloodline and the circumstances of his birth. It should be no surprise he is this strong.

Even the opponents he faced in soul society and learning how or why people lost and the chances of Ichigo running into THOSE people ha.

I intended to make a video about it. But I lacked the skills of other reviewers and didn’t proceed with that endeavor. But thats my thing on IchiGoat.

I think plot armor is basically bs luck/fate and Ichigo doesn’t have Luck. He has carefu design. In my opinion.

Aizen didn’t plan on him surviving those encounters, he put them there so that if he did overcome them it would put him on a certain trajectory. Ichigo still had to overcome them Ichigo was still getting BS plot amps every time his hollow came out and when out of nowhere he learns a secret technique that apparently always existed but was never mention (final getsuga) that’s ability was literally just a fuck Aizen button. Also the BS way Aizen was defeated by Urahara (Thisnones contentious but idc what people say there were 0 hints that urahara did anything there) This is on top of him somehow mastering Bankai in 2 days and conveniently activating Blut Vene as Ywach stabbed him, despite being hit multiple times in that fight and it never activating once

i had a feeling that was the case why you named it that way. because i never felt ichigo was advancing because of luck. he advanced on his own and like you said guided and bloodline had his advancement compared to many other protag's we know

Not one cap in sight🤣 when luffy gets beat (croc/kaido etc) it’s others that come and save him. When Ichigo/naruto get beat, it’s usually a power up they had but were unaware/adverse to using that saves them. Marineford is a big example, luffy literally couldn’t win against people but it was others that saved him (plot armour). Both are types of plot armour, if I’m honest I think Ichigo is the worst which is why the title never made sense to me, hell the ulquira fight is Plot armour 101, though all MC’s put in work for their strength, plot armour isn’t bad writing. No anime in sight doesn’t have plot armour, Berserk being one of the most literary celebrated works of fiction, or game of thrones, as dire and horrid the circumstances are the MC’s do indeed have “plot armour”. (Guts / Jon Snow)

I like your take sir!

(Opinion) Every single character in a written story has plot armor in-till they don’t. If a character dies on episode 10 they had plot armor all the way up intill episode 10. If mc dies on the last episode they had plot armor in-till the last episode. If a villain or hero wins it’s because they had plot armor. The plot needed who ever won to win. In my opinion ass pulls with no set up isn’t really plot armor it not so good writing givin the author failed to set up the thing that makes them overcome the tough situation with foreshadowing. Just my opinion.

Jack

for the author to make you think ichigo doesn't have plot armor is like plot armor to the max

I think what Lee means by plot armor is the MC bul shitting their way through the story with dumb luck and the power of friendship. Ichigo doesn’t really have either as his friends also struggle all the fucking time

Mirza

In my mind every MC has base plot armor, like you know they aren't gonna die. But I agree Ichigo rarely if ever relies on luck, he just has so much innate talent that as long as he doesn't give up he can find a way out of a situation with his own skills, and Ichigo has gotten out of many situations just by putting on a brave face and continuing to fight despite being on the brink of death which is something most people couldn't do

Danny

i think Kubo did a good job making Ichigo's early powerups not look random. Especially with the addition of the information we got in TYBW we can see that Ichigo was literally built diff. His Quincy and Hollow powers were working in tandem to keep his ass alive and all he thought of was his shinigami powers. Idk if he thought of all that from the get go but it worked out in the end at least lol

I really like and enjoy bleach but Ichigo has a lot of random power ups that help him win fights comparable to the amount someone like natsu from fairy tail receives . It’s just the cause of the power up isn’t labeled because of friendship but to me it’s just as random. But doesn’t matter to me, a lot of shonen don’t handle power ups that well and I still enjoy most of them. Just like I really enjoy bleach. I think dragon ball and fairy tail are the worst when it come to random power ups and I still like both of them.

2023-05-22 00:55:03 He is one of the most obvious Main characters for plot armor. You are making no sense. Plot armor applies to him getting power ups when they are needed and plot armor applies to when he beats an opponent that is way better than him. Plot armor applies to when at the end of the original series a bunch of soul reapers come at the perfect time and give a bunch of their power so ichigo can get his zanpakuto back. I can name many many instances of ichigo having plot armor.

I agree with this 100%, one thing about plot armor is it usually becomes predictable. One with with Ichigos track record against big villains is it follows a repetitive formula. Fight big villain, lose, get plot armor power up then win. Rinse and repeat. At this point I'd I have to be completetly honest and not biased to say that majority of shounen have very typical plot armor devices. Hxh was relatively but it still has its plot armor issues as well.

Depends on how you define plot armor. Plot armor should mean that a character suddenly gets stronger out of nowhere or overturns a difficult situation without logical explanation but rather just through convenient writing. In episode 1 of the anime, you see him break Rukia's binding spell no.1, on the same episode you learn that his mother is dead, on the same episode still, Rukia comments on how Ichigo's spiritual powers are unusually high for a human and on the same episode you learn that it was probably awakened by Ichigo coming in contact with the ghost girl. So you know there is a mystery behind his mother because that's how the writing is directing you towards. All throughout the series, you see bits of information that point to Ichigo having incredible latent talent, in fact, you would have to have low attention to detail if you didn't pick up on the fact that the show keeps on repeating the theme of "Instinct". What is instinct? Instinct is best explained by Yoruichi (The hottest female fictional character btw) in episodes 46-48 I think, where she talks to Renji about how Ichigo instinctively knows he will get stronger. Ichigo then again tells Orihime during episodes 126-128 that he knows he will get stronger when he was training with the Vizards. The nail in the coffin comes in the TYBW arc. We learn that Aizen created White by using similar techniques to Nimaiya, the creator of Zanpakutou. This would explain how Ichigo got his Oversized Kitchen knife out of nowhere since he already has a pseudo asauchi implanted in his soul via White. We know his mother is echt quincy, his father's spiritual pressure got imprinted into white and you know he is a member of the 5 great noble families. You might ask why does Ichigo get stronger in spurts? Well voila! episode 13 of TYBW, Ichigo's Quincy manifestation within his soul tells him he doesn't want Ichigo to go the path of shinigami. This is why he was holding back his power but he got softer and softer as time went by. Remember episodes 126 - 128 (somewhere around these), WHITE TELLS ICHIGO, IF HE REALLY WANTS TO CONTROL HIS POWER, HE SHOULD NOT DIE THE NEXT TIME THEY MEET. THIS SIMPLY MEANS THAT, IF ICHIGO GETS IN TROUBLE AGAIN HIS QUINCY POWER WOULD TRY ITS BEST TO SUPPRESS ALL OF HIS POWERS SO HE WOULD AVOID GETTING INTO ANOTHER FIGHT. THIS IS WHY HE COMMENTS AFTER FIGHTING ULQUIORRA THAT HIS MASK FEELS HEAVIER AND HOW HE WASN'T ABLE TO MAINTAIN IT FOR LONG WHEN HE FOUGHT YAMMY. OLD MAN ZANGETSU WAS AGAIN SUPPRESSING HIM SO HE WOULD GET SIDELINED. This is beautiful writing as it goes full circle and LEE knows this that's why I respect the dude's insights during his reactions.
