2023-04-03 20:16:37 My heart really broke for Hyun-yi this episode, the way Geun-soo publicly outed her was so cruel. He had absolutely no right to do that. While I understood the investment was at stake, I loved that Saeroyi cared about Hyun-yi's feelings above all else and validated her. She really didn't have to prove herself to anyone. I could feel his anger come off the screen and the way the show always interweaves past poignant dialogue with the current situation is so masterful. It all connects. I think the production team was surprised when Hyun-yi declared she was transgender because it's one thing to read an online article that could be a rumour (and expect the person involved in it to lay low thereafter) and another to defiantly continue on a televised cooking competition, own the story, and announce it confidently. I really loved the poem Yi-seo read her to strengthen her resolve too. She's truly brave <3

I love when Saeroyi pats his head in that dumb stance too hahahaha! It's so adorable. He's such a dork. A whole man who gets flustered by feelings

Lee's practicing for his kdrama debut "SOO-AH! SOO-AHHH 😭" lmfao

This is how they should use diversity. It makes you want to root for them instead of feeling like they're being preachy about it. As much as I wanted Saeroyi to cook, I am very much rooting and expecting Hyun-yi to win this. Also, while it is true that it was a bit underhanded, if you look at it another way, maybe he knew deep in his heart that they won't lose because of this and he is just making Danbam lose 1 more of their weakness. Another one that reason yi-seo ship is better than soo-ah is because they solve the problems the same way. Soo-ah runs from it. If they get married and encounter a big problem down the road, Soo-ah will tend to pick the easy way while Saeroyi will pick the hard way and this disagreement will cause cracks in their relationship. Meanwhile yi-seo faces the problem head on beside him. She has the brains to deal with the problems as well. If they encounter a problem down the road, they are more likely to work together and find solutions together without compromising Saeroyi's integrity.

I think that in regard to his revenge it's partly about his father but if it was SOLELY about his father then he could have stopped when the son went to jail. He also could have found a way on his own for the son to admit to the crimes himself much sooner. Because of their arrogance how they treat people who aren't as rich or whatever I think thats part of his revenge aspect. Jangga is the #1 in the country bc of that he thinks he can just tell people to bow down to him like a king. Thats why he keeps saying he needed to teach Saeroyi a lesson and keeps trying to beat him into compliance. Saeroyi in turn i believe is trying to teach jannga a lesson on morality and lines that even he a socially inept dude knows shouldn't be crossed and because you keep crossing these lines and cant just apologize yourself when you know you've done wrong means I need to bring you down a peg. Esp because when you think about it, starting from firing Mr.park all because Saeroyi was like I messed up by punching him but he's a bully so im not bowing down to him for nothing; if Jangga Pres had just had his son also apologize or just had saeroyi in detention for a wicked long time and then made mr.park transferred to different department in the compay. EVEN THAT, would have changed the whole dynamic of the show. But I mean we wouldn't have the greatness as it is now if such a thing occurred.

Yi-Seo is suffering because of Saeroyi’s sadness and Soo-Ah is suffering because of her own pain. Like, who are you rooting for? Not Soo-Ah! Also, I love how Saeroyi has a group of “outcasts” with him (a black korean guy, a trans women, an ex-criminal and a an almost sociopath). Now, that is the real inclusion!

Geunsoo's complete 180 is the only thing in the show that doesn't really make sense to me. He had a lot of empathy and a good sense of responsibility before. He was genuinely a good kid and it was so important to him to not be like his family. And now all of a sudden that's just gone completely? and he has no shame in hurting his own friend in the worst way? Idk it doesn't track in my opinion. Its too out of character. But since everything else about the show is pretty brilliant, I guess I can excuse that one (imo)error.

Random Guy

i don't really think it's an error. He did say he didn't wanna use it. I just feel like he is desperate. Even good guys can do bad things if they try. You can even see him feel a guilty when he got confronted. and to be fair, he still believes yi-seo will come to him if he actually becomes the president of Jangga. Which we all know won't happen unless Saeroyi actually rejects her.

94_h

Actually, him being "such a good kid" tracks with what he's doing now cause, actually, Geun-Soo is THE biggest simp on the show and he's so desperate and lowkey needy (no love from his parents, bullied and neglected). He's doing all that solely for Yi-Seo, so you can tell he's super selfish, which is ok, but the lengths he goes to just for a girl? Crazy.

The first time we saw geunsoo as a kid he kill ant, the evidence was always there

Just to add a little sweetness that the subs don't translate. Yiseo adds "unnie" to Hyuni's name whenever she speaks to her, which means older sister in Korean. It's commonly said if you're a female to another female older than you (and to whom you hold respect to). But the fact that strong-willed, sociopath Yiseo has a true soft spot for Hyuni to call her "unnie" makes my heart warm every time she says it. Really shows their sweet bond.

strange& sleepless

What? I've seen this show at least 5 times, I am aware of every detail. And I disagree nonetheless. Yeah there was that scene with the ants but I really don't think that alone was enough to explain it. He was always aware that his family was bad and he despised them for it and wanted to be nothing like them. Like I said, he had good morals, values and empathy. He was immediately ready to take responsibility after their accident with the scooter as well as after the incident in saeroyi's pub (where he tried to deescalate the fight btw) even though neither were really his fault. And he didn't do that to appeal to yiseo. She couldn't have cared less. When he found out what his family did to saeryoi he was ashamed, cried when he apologized on their behalf and promised him they would get punished no matter what. He was inspired by saeroyi and his principles so much so that he went to his own father and told him about he much stronger saeroyi is. And then all of a sudden, all of that's just completely gone? I'm sorry but it just doesn't track imo now matter how you put it, no matter how much he wants yiseo. But agree to disagree.

JazzJams

My guy was crushes ants as a pastime as a child; this isn't surprising to me.

Pia

Yes, it shows that she is not just faking her feelings for people other than Saeroyi. She’s growing as a person.
