Good points you made, I was feeling like it was slowing down as well for interest before eps19 but that episode truely brought it all back. You explained it super well what a great episode and very excited for the finale this Wednesday.

I truly hope this season 1 has only been setting the main story up. I don't mind the jokes and how our MC goes around living in his own head. But do hope we get some enemies that actually can do something.

i loved this show so much from your reactions i read the entire manga in an afternoon i will not spoil anything or even give hints but all i will say is it continues being amazing and gets better and its the first time in my life ive gone directly to a manga to want more

If you're going into the show expecting some standard plot progression and opposition you'll probably be setting yourself up for disappointment. It seems to be Cid is just this immovable force (basically a god) and the actual plot and stakes are for the characters around him (including his shadow garden)

Yeah. Cid is not the main character. He is our main character yes but not the shows main character. He’s said multiple times rose is the main character and it shows with her character development. He’s just there to live anime fantasy tropes

Slime was more detailed on its empire building and rimuru slowly becoming an unstoppable force of nature but also has a lot of OP sidekicks. He usually fights for "good" but mainly to protect his own city and people. Overlord was similar but the opposite. Ainz only fights for his guild and has no issue of committing "evil" or questionable deeds to further his agenda. Ofc, he does have a code he follows so hes not completely evil. More anti-hero than Rimuru tho. Then theres Eminence where the show is alot more satire than the other two and plays on a similar concept but more focused on the comedic and ridiculous aspect of OP isekais. Cid being extra and dramatic while the rest of the world is in chaos over shit he just randomly does for his own enjoyment. To put them simply, Rimuru is probably Neutral Good, Cid is Chaotic Neutral, while Ainz is most likely Lawful Evil.

2023-02-14 04:58:53 Personally I really hate characters who are ignorant for no reason like Cid not realizing about the cult of Diablos or how he thinks that Alpha and the other girls are just playing with him and he thinks everything is a joke. It honestly took me several times to read the manga because I could not stand Cid's personality and his goal in becoming the Eminence in shadow when in fact it is just Cid having a Narcissistic personality. Even after watching the anime I only found enjoyment in watching the other characters in the show rather than the Main character.

I get around the whole "top 10 list" by allowing ties. I will make a few entries ties in my list when I cant decide which of the ones are better, If I was forced to watch one of those entries, I would have to give it coin toss. So my "top 10 list" has like 15 things in it. My list is also weighted my the amount of content available. For this reason, Slime remains in the #1 spot of my list ,Not just for the amount of content in the Anime, but also accounting for the LN and Manga. While the LN and Manga content may not matter as much to Anime Onlys, at face value anyway. The amount of available content in LN/Manga format is an indicator of how much an anime can adapt, and the more the better, after all, who wouldn't want to see more of what's in their top 10 list. Eminence in Shadow has earned a spot in my top 10 list already. Its in fact in the top 5, behind Slime, Jobless, Shield Hero and Overlord. (Jobless and Shield hero are Tied in my list, that was decided by the amount of content available, both of which are 20+ LNs out.) For the time being, Eminence in Shadow's major downside is the amount of content (Only 5 volumes out so far, still waiting on the 5th to be translated). What Shadow does well is make a parody of common tropes and character types, and its written so well into the story that it fits like puzzle piece. None of the tropey stuff feels forced or out of place, and not one character feels like they don't belong.

...Different people like different things I hate Cid as a character and due to that every time I see him in the show I feel like I should skip his scenes and patch up the rest of the episode's context by myself. I personally don't really like this show that much due to Cid being the way he is, but I understand that different people likes different things. I like badass female main character and some people love over powered male main characters who drives themselves to be the strongest because they want to achieve their dreams.

Well the show is satire so Cid being the way he is is just a play on the chuuni. The guy knows his shit is dramatic af but simply cant help himself. Personally Im watever bout him. I dont like nor hate him. The show is enjoyable in a comedic way for me more than anything. Not that interested in the plot and the side characters are alright. Hes like the more comedic version of Ainz who practically have to finesse his way through the series to make sure he understood wtf was going on cuz his own ppl were 100 steps ahead
