When Tommy went into the safe with Polly at the end of last episode he basically said that they already have more money in their safe than all those toffs (the supposedly rich people in Graces family) put together. Basically saying how Graces side of the family acted like they were better than Tommy's family because they believed themselves to have more wealth, but that was showing that they were wrong & Tommy's family is actually wealthier. Also $10,000 didn't stack up well against the GBP, around that time £1.00 would be about $3.50 & the only reason they wanted to be paid in dollars was so that they wouldn't have to exchange large amounts of currency to buy the docks in America. Before WW1 £1.00 would get you around $5.00, so yeah the dollar was much weaker than the pound back then. I know that it's such a minor thing but I really had to say it since I noticed it brought up again at the beginning of this episode.

Tommy deserves blame for it from that point on but John was the one who started the entire thing with his ego trip to the old man and threatening his son just because he wanted to feel like a big shot. Something I noticed on this re-watch grace is a big distraction and yall saying he should tell grace thing if yall haven't noticed she doesn't listen and she is really naive like he tells her to take off the sapphire she thinks he's worried about the people at the party then thinking that she convince people to come to the party like she knows Tommy's a gangsta when you met him now he's 100 times more successful and you don't realize he running things like that and even last season if I remember correctly she act like she was surprised that Tommy planned to have sex when they met then she try to play it like it was her plan even following the IRA guy like he wouldn't realize he was being followed
