Watch before reading this.

Lol...i dunno before this Arc, I never had the impression that Oden was THAT DUDE... Kin'emon spoke so highly of him, but all the rulers before were catching MASSIVE L's to the Invader, even seeing Oden get HUMBLED by White beard and Roger, I further was like..yeah he can't compete with an Emperor.. than we see, he accumulated strength during his travels...He's actually THAT DUDE.  This was an incredible story and probably my favorite back story ever.  Oden Sama is incredibly likeable...and the Journey isn't over here.  


Spoiler if you haven't seen the next 6 episodes yet.


Also, My Kaido remarks at the end is because I'm under the impression that Kaido would stoop to that level of using a Trick to beat Oden.  If it were to ever come to my attention that Kaido didn't approve of that old woman's Trick to pretend to be Momo maybe just maybe...i'd have a different opinion.

I know a lot of people will get triggered by my remarks lol..

I’m sure you’ve already watched the following episodes. In one of the upcoming episodes Kaido tells Oden that he had the Old hag killed for pretending to be Momo. That wasn’t the way he wanted to win but he still has to honor it because a win is a win.

Yeah I read that, which is what prompted me to bring it up. When I look back at episode even if Kaido wanted that Old Hag to distract Oden or not it was too late for him to stop. Both of them were in mid flight when one of their strongest attacks already going. Kaido was in mid swing when Oden turned around. Just heartbreaking to see such a dominant man get taken out like that.

Kaido is that good but Oden might have been better. That's why saying Zoro was on Oden's level was crazy cause Zoro aint there yet.

You forget even though Oden lost to whitebeard and Roger he was on both crews for at least a year after that so he got stronger

Just incase nobody else mentioned it but kaido had nothing to do with the momo trick not a 100% but I think in the Manga the witch was killed for that

Yeah a year with two of the top crews at the it was more of a implied thing and not sure if you notice that when he was with whitebeard and he formed the commanders Oden was the second commander which later on was ace spot which is funny because when he was asked to become second commander they said it was vacant for years and blackbeard didn't want it even though he was on the crew for years

Something to think about is oden hits kaido and he was hurt for sure but kaido hits oden and he got put to sleep. Ik he was off guard but still that is impressive.

It is but he wouldn't have been able to haki to protect himself because of lack of focus unlike luffy at the beginning of the arc luffy was focused and overwhelmed

I don’t care what anyone says, but Oden would’ve won. In the manga kaido was dropping to the ground after being wounded and still in dragon form, Oden was going to finish him off. But when the witch tricked Oden, that’s when Kaido got up behind turned into human form and slash Oden. Going off of the manga, Oden would’ve won 100%. Also, the manga interprets Kaido literally turning to human form only once Oden went to save Momo.. so it was a cheap shot. People get upset when I say this, but it’s how it’s interpreted in the manga.

I generally love the anime but stuff like this grinds my gears. It was drawn that way for a reason, to show that Oden really came close and it wasn't doomed to failure like some people thought.

the manga did kind of have a gap like realistically it seems the anime was right. All the manga showed was kaido down then the hag tricked oden then kaido hit him. Idk how fast kaido would have to untransform then hit oden in that time frame. It just seems like the anime made it seem more logical imo.

Anime was right ? I’ll always take the authors direct work over anything else. And his direct work says what Ive already mentioned. And can that dude no spoil the thing about Kaido ? It doesn’t matter if he had that or not !!! Dumb excuse. Shoulda woulda coulda. Kaido maybe a lot stronger now, but if Oden was alive he’d be stronger too

yeah but oda has skipped stuff to be filled in by the anime. He has done that heavy this arc to the point where in some instances the anime seems more canon than the manga. From manga reader to manga reader you know that is true. I will not spoil anything but anybody who reads the manga would agree.
