I think the comrade he's talking to is Ost, she asked them to go after that villain.

Molokolulush

Finally a decent enough episode but the build up to this was kinda poor. I don't really feel much for Ost's death. I also don't feel much regarding the green haired's girl sudden character development but otherwise great reaction and good standalone episode.

I'll be honest the episode was ok, for me at least Kyo Ethnina (Book Hero) is the best character of this season, he saved this anime from mediocrity, the name of this season should be "The Rising of the Book Hero ". This change of personality of Rishia makes no sense to me. I understand that she had great potential, it is not a problem that she is OP, I find it strange that for 5 episodes, the only thing this girl did Rishia, was to cry, they did not show anything to explain this the complete change of her personality, all this season Rishia was a whiner, and out of nowhere she became brave, full of confidence, OP? This is not how things really work, you can change your personality but normally it changes a little bit, we see some memories that show us the potential change of personality, we see something normally, but they did not show any clues to indicate this personality change. 📖📕📗📘📙📚

I'll be honest, my opinion is that these first 5 episodes should have been put in OVAs and the season should have started with episode 6.

I liked a little more. But i also have Directornasty with me. But yeah. I agree with your critical points. I think i said the same. Just said it nicer 😭😭

AbelToGame

I mean it's hard not to feel like Rishia's growth was sudden and out of nowhere when they condensed 4 volumes worth of manga into 5 episodes

Black Hawk

Truly this was the best episode and hopefully they can be consistent as much as they can being that is 24 episodes

Xsardes

Something is rising, and once again it is a Shield Hero...I belive it is quote from one of you guys "Just wait till episode 7" (ok not quote, but the point, isekais tend to get good around ep 7 point, or never xD)...we are at episode 6 and it got better, meby there is still a chance to end with Shield Hero somewhere in the top of the season.

Haruto Yuzuki

I believe this is a 12 Episode Season and Season 3 will be 12 Episode or 24

R'ja Norr

The story compression ruined a lot of the anime for the start of this season, but the next arc should be better, I hope. As for going through the portal, I believe Ost helped with that.

Damn they're rushing through material they might catch up to where I left off on the LNs

Man, I really wish they had done something like what you were suggesting with the three heroes getting beat one after another every episode. By this point in the LN's, it's already been explained how the three of them got defeated so easily, and it's equally to do with their parties. Since I feel it's kind of important to just be glossing over it like the anime did, I'll give very brief explanations for how the three heroes went down: - Spear hero; shows up with his all-girl party, tells them to give him back-up; Witch and friends are all like "No, you're stupid; see ya bitch." and Spear hero is abandoned to fight on his own without backup. He's rendered unconscious by the Tortoise. - Sword hero; shows up with his party, does pretty well on his own because he's a natural solo-player; however, because he's a solo-player, he paid no attention to how his party was leveling this entire time, had no idea his party was so under-leveled, and is doing nothing to help protect them while he's focused fighting the tortoise; he turns around to issue an order and finds that his entire party has already been wiped out and their corpses are being eaten by the familiars; totally messes up his psyche and he loses his will to fight. He's rendered unconscious by the Tortoise. - Bow hero; shows up with his party and decides to be smart; they climb up onto the shell, find a cave entrance, and begin searching for the heart; out of nowhere his party turns on him, ties him up with rope, and then leaves him for dead, completely unable to defend himself. So, that's how the three heroes wound up getting turned into batteries. To help explain a few other things... Firstly, there's a difference between "Cardinal" heroes and other heroes. Cardinal heroes, like Naofumi and the three stooges, wield the four primary power sources (aka "weapons") within a world. Other heroes, including the "Vassal" heroes, are secondary power sources who have enough power to help fight the waves, but not enough power to actually end the waves. L'Arc, Glass, and Kyo don't wield the primary power sources within their own world, which is why they were able to freely cross between worlds, whereas Naofumi was prevented from crossing. In Naofumi's world, the secondary power sources are referred to as the "Seven Star Heroes", which was mentioned only once in passing in episode 1 or 2 of this season. Secondly, the reason that Naofumi was suddenly able to cross over like L'Arc and them is because of Ost. Kyo and them have been referring to her as "one of this world's guardian beasts". Just like the primary power sources, every world has 4 guardian beasts, whom are meant to awaken after certain conditions have been reached during the waves. (The Tortoise only awakened because Kyo went and broke her seal early, don't forget.) The role played by Guardian Beasts is simply as "moral-less" protectors of their world - they will stop at nothing to bring the waves to an end, even if that means sacrificing every soul within the world in order to do so. Because of their duty to the world, the guardian beasts can manipulate the natural laws and order of things, which is why Ost has such a unique magic chant: "[...] give my orders to the heavens and the Earth, sever the laws of reality, [...]". This manipulation can also be applied to any of the heroes. By "severing the laws of reality" Ost can forcibly unlock weapon equips (i.e. "Spirit Tortoise Heart shield" force unlock) and she can also alter the laws of the nature world (i.e. "Cardinal heroes may cross to other worlds under certain conditions.") This is why Naofumi was suddenly able to cross over when he couldn't just seconds beforehand. Thirdly, Naofumi WAS referring to Ost when he said "Our comrade is telling us to go!" L'Arc, Therese, and Glass all told Naofumi to let THEM deal with Kyo, and that they'd return with the souls once they'd defeated him, so he couldn't have been referring to those three when he said that line.

L.C.

Sort of disappointed that naofumi didn't have much of a moment compared to the green hair girl cause I am simply more invested in naofumi and its just the fact that he is the main character. He is the one I watch for mainly. I do not want to complain and I feel like this season has been complained about so much but I had to say it. Although it was a good episode. I just felt let down with naofumi. Green hair girl had to get a glow up at some point but it was more so that she had the moment that naofumi should have had and she should have had a moment that was near that in terms of quality. Naofumi got a power up but he didn't have a moment. I want those moments naofumi had in season 1 whether it be through rage or through love idgashit. That was the only problem I have but it was disappointing enough to partially ruin this episode for me overall.

Casper Ghost

Flexing his power would just be pretty meaningless though as his emotional development is the key focus of the show not his road to being an OP hero which would frankly just be boring and generic in my opinion as there are only so many fight scenes that stand out anymore; its mostly about catching people's attention with a shiny fight to make up for poor character development and storytelling. Giving Rishia her moment is also key to keeping her somewhat palatable as a character and showing Naofumi's true strength lies in nurturing his allies.
