So all I really have to say is when they were introducing themselves at the beginning the reason she just repeated her name is because she was so famous everyone would know how her name is based on that, while a normal person would still have to explain how their name is from more random well known things like Sakuta does Oh and since it was tripping you guys up a bit. When Sakuta mentions adolescence syndrome Mai calls it an “urban legend” so it’s something people in the setting might hear about here and there vaguely or see online, but nobody would really believe it

Adolescences syndrome basically entails that strong adolescent emotions and instability can create strange phenomena in the world. (Ex. Mai wishing for no one to know who she was)

If you love this MC you are gonna love Classroom of the Elite's MC. Also recommend My Teen Romantic Comedy is Wrong, as I Expected , the MC is great in that one too.

This is one of those shows you start watching for the Fan Service, but you come back for the story. I ended up binging the whole series in a single sitting b/c the story kept me hooked.

I think if you end up enjoying this, you'll probably enjoy the Monogatari series, as the structure of the stories are very similar (at least regarding early story arcs) if you want to consider checking that out in the future.

I think you guys are mistaking senpai to sensei. "Sensei" means teacher, "senpai" means senior - typically someone older in the same organization as you (work, school, etc.)

Lol yeah this is sci fi. Out of curiosity Did you guys think this was a rom-com? I got that feeling when you put it up against nagatoro. This and Nagatoro are like 2 completly different genres. Bunny Girl is Drama-Sci-Fi with a romance sub plot. Its like Monogotari or Haruhi. EDIT: More supernatural than sci-fi

Thats good, this shows a classic. I think this shows pretty popular, but its a heavy emotionally draining show, especially the movie. It aint light viewing lol

If ya'll know JP culture a bit more, it'd be easier to clear up confusion, such as Director's uncertainty if it's Sci-Fi or just Dramatic Directing in certain cuts/scenes. At this point ya'll probably already know, but the show is straight science fiction, but knowing this cultural detail would've helped ease confusion and help ya'll connect dots faster The scene Director was interpreting, with Mai trying to order some food/donut whatever, as the Cashier just ignoring her 'cuz she's a has-been is almost more science fiction than what's actually happening. Essentially, JP customer service ain't like the Popeye's down the street, they'll do damn near everything to display as much hospitality as possible, even if the customer is 'has-been' or straight up rude. They're known, especially to themselves, for maintaining their composure and being accommodating. At this point, ya'll already ahead so this detail doesn't matter, but it's good to understand this idea as a fact, and more importantly as a Trope. That JP customer service is straight immaculate and professional at all times. Because there's still a ton of Anime out there ya'll yet to see that plays on this Trope, essentially expecting the viewer, an average Japanese citizen, to understand and recognize it. And ya'll ain't that, Japanese, so this comment is moreso just to let ya'll know info you couldn't possibly be expected to know already lmao it'll help for future shows n stuff

Hey guys, glad you're reacting to this one. While it's good you're thinking 'steins gate' like, this show aint really heavy on sci-fi. This show's way more of a personality and 'read the room' type story. I wouldn't recommend thinking too hard on stuff. You'll get more of an understanding reading things from a character's 'personal mentality' perspective rather than 'bigger picture science' type stuff.

A senpai is a senior, not necessarily older than you. In this case, Mai is a senpai because she is in a higher grade. Someone with a higher rank, someone with more experience than you or someone with who has been in an organization longer than you can be a senpai.

Regarding views on Steins Gate, I think there's probably a huge issue of it being 10 years old and YouTube having super recency bias. There's literally kids these days who won't touch it with a 10 foot pole because it's "old", but anyone who's been around long enough knows it's one of the true GOATs, and is considered mandatory watching for a man of culture
