I think the reason the Queen was so stubborn was because until she was knee deep in that battle with her husband, she thought that 30 ships worth of reinforcements was going to arrive. But they got lost at sea, or destroyed out there. She only learned that at around the time her husband bit the dust. Was the things she did still stupid? Of course it was, but at least she had a REASON to believe she could have won the fight, and it wasn't just out of pride that her kingdom fell. Still, 12 years of fighting and making absolutely idiotic decisions didn't help. Even if those ships arrived and she won that fight, someone else would have took the kingdom down eventually

this not spoiler this from ep1 in the big fight the queen is not stupid she had army and fleet but the fleet got caught in storm (destiny) and was late so she was fighting with only half of her force

Basically Cintra got fucked BECAUSE Calanthe fucked with Destiny. Destiny clearly enabled Nilfgaard to get to where it is now, invading Cintra, so Destiny can FORCE Ciri to get to Geralt, since it will be forcing Ciri to leave Cintra by force, thanks to Calanthe being a cunt & spitting in Destiny's eye. Like they said earlier, Kings & Queens have tried to fuck w/ Destiny, only to end up w/ their people and/or their domains in ruin. Also yeah it seems that her & Cahir (the helmet dude w/ the black feather thingie) are the Left & Right Hands, respectively, of the White Flame, based on context we have been given of the 2 having massive pull on the mook armies (it seems that Cahir at least DIRECTLY serves the White Flame, and was anointed (i.e Cahir is prolly not his real name, since Anointment generally means in Christianity you get a new Christian name instead of your original name you were born with (true for Popes for example, but also first gen converts back in the day), so I assume Cahir is his w/e religious name for the White Flame religion is called for the practitioner) by the White Flame to hunt down Ciri for reasons unknown (prolly that magic shit she has?), but it seems that Fringilla serves the White Flame on a general level, likely as the head of all the Mage units or w/e Nilfgaard has that conscripts mages etc, and likely also lump up together there those ppl who are used as sacrifices for shit like augury (the intestine prophecy thingie they did at the start, where that 1 dude ate DNA sample from Calanthe, then got gutted by Fringilla as a Sacrifice (this is generally traditionally done w/ animal entrails, but I guess it's more precise or something if done via Human Sacrifice?), to locate the DNA's progeny (Ciri) somewhere else, it's a type of Thaumaturgical branch of magic in this context, rather than pure Augury (Augury specifically refers to the ritual of reading future via entrails of animals) type magic)

Queen Calanthe made the worst decisions that could be made. The queen mocked the prince of Nilfgaard, alienated allies, made several enemies, refused the help of the mages, and refused Geralt's help. This queen has made the worst possible decisions.

ok little lore and not spoiler as they will never bother to explain. because witchers are fake magical beings(as in they are created, not born), they cant naturally sense magic like a sorcerer can, so thier medallions will vibrate when magic shit is near. thats why he grabbed his medallion and then found ciri. thats why its a big deal when you find a witchers medallion as they dont lose nor give them up. it means that witcher is dead.

Gotta wait for ep 8 lol. I only explained cuz i can see a lot it folks coming with the 50 ships explanation wanted to slow that one down haha. It’s something we “knew” but I remember even during the battle she was like. Reinforcements are coming. I was like nobody coming lol. Then in ep 4. I started thinking those were allied ships that abandoned her because she was mean to everyone Now I’m under the impression. Its her own ships with men and they got bodied.

In Queen Calanthes defense she had never lost a battle prior to the loss against Nilfgaard which was due to her navy not coming through. She just made it back from the trauma of losing her daughter, she was thinking over my dead body if I give up my granddaughter too. Regardless if Geralt said he would bring her back or not, she couldn’t risk him not bringing her back. Regarding the dissing of Nilfgaard, if y’all remember all the houses were making fun of Nilfgaard during the wedding too, everyone treated them like shit – so it wasn’t only on Queen Calanthes. Regarding the mages if you’re 82-0 why would you allow mages into your kingdom? You’re good, again she never lost a battle.
