The thing about Lex is that his his schemes aren’t always evil, just self centered. He stopped a war in Season 1, and yes it was for a play but he genuinely did something the good guys could never do that saved a lot of lives, and he actually does a lot of philanthropic works when he stands to gain a benefit, even if it’s just good PR. From a civilian perspective Lex is probably a good guy to have around in the world as long as you’re not caught in his bullshit that he usually does in places no one that could prosecute him cares about to decrease accountability. Plus, even though he’s always selfish he’s never greedy, petty or shortsighted, which is why he stays on top. He’s not just out to screw the heroes over, after all, that power could come in handy to him. He probably doesn’t put those kind of failsafes in his weapon because who would buy weapons from a guy known to put safety phrases in them? My guess is the arm has like a token effort tracker or something screwy that he fully expects the good guys to remove.

Well Speedy finally woke up and as expected he did not take everything he heard so well, so he went to get Lex Luthor but he didn't do it because of his guards and that bribe he just accepted from him and now he's calling himself Arsenal. Also Wally really should've just told Mrs. Crock what's really going on and that Artemis was really alive instead of just letting her believe it and grieve like that and now Cheshire wants revenge on Aqualad but Sportsmaster not so much cause all he cares about is his reputation and about Rocket she's getting married to someone else and is not with Aqualad, that ain't right. Anyway I suggest y'all do TWO episodes tomorrow cause what's coming up in those next ones is very important!

Actually, he does have one thing that makes him petty and shortsighted, and that's Superman. He considers himself the pinnacle of man(yeah a bit of an ego but you could say by many measures of worth he's earned it), worked his ass off to become the best and leave a legacy and suddenly an alien god comes along and invalidates his achievements by being powerful without even working for it and morally his superior to boot, and from his perspective that means Superman invalidates humanity. My favorite versions of Lex are the ones where he ironcally creates the means to enrich humanity due to his rivalry with Supes but refuses to actually enrich humanity because of the same rivalry. You can see why he's in the Light because Vandal, explaining his motive at the end of season 1, wants to evolve humanity to the point where they're the masters of the galaxy at minimum. The Justice League is considered an obstacle to that because they prevent the kinds of disasters that would force humanity to evolve and adapt. Even though they don't get a ton of screen time, YJ understands the villains they use EXTREMELY well.
