Honestly don't know if anybody's ever heard of it but this entire series reminded me of this Japanese film called As God's Will ( Kamisama no iu tôri ) which is basically just games for survival.

I think this show (Squid Game) has more substance, and better written characters. I’m glad Lee went with it. Alice is good though

For reference/context: a million WON in the show is roughly a thousand US dollars, and a billion won is like a million dollars. So he won a couple thousand on the horse race and contestants stand to win a couple million dollars in the game. Btw great commentary on the addiction part, I didn’t give it much thought first time around, but you do see how down and bad he is - like you said he forgot about the money in the slapping game - it was about the feeling.

I also binged this show over the last few days, and it is one of the best shows I've seen in a while now. I came in with low expectations, but the writing and characters make it hard to put down. Very excited to see the predictions from you guys

Absolutely excited to see ya'll's reaction on this going forward here, appreciate that towards the end we brought up the cultural differences in regards to approaching this "game". Not a lot of peeps understand that sorta stuff, that the MC is a Korean in a Korean show and start applying American logic to it and dismissing like half the stuff going on. Hella excited for the next episode ya'll'll love it

Don't get me wrong, I really liked Alice in Borderland too, but they're both enjoyable in pretty different ways despite the similarities they share. Feels weird to compare the two in my opinion, but I'm just happy to see a reaction to either one of them! I know they'll like this one

It's hard to measure that distance from screen alone, but yea most likely you can make it wihout running at all. I am smart enough to make it, but I am not sure could I handle the panic...aslo MY GOD how desperate must you be to sign up for something like that?! ... I mean, If I knew rules beforehand, and all they can do to me is shoot me I would sign up wihout even being in financial truble...but that's me, I don't value my own life at all, and I am willing to risk it anyday for the chance to get super rich, super fast, buuut thats just me...I'm wierd when it comes to shit like this xD

There's a movie called Platform that's kinda like this. I haven't watched it so I'm not sure if it's good or not but it's on Netflix so maybe you can try it out.
