Gobta trains a lot but doesn't have a ton of experience fighting in a war (hunting yes, fighting not really). Most of his fighting experience is against Hakurou, which obviously doesn't give him a lot of confidence given that Hakurou easily overpowers him. But yea, he is quite strong, but isn't confident in his ability.

Marquise Mcbride

Technically the “laborers” was benimaru’s decision. He just assumed that it was Rimuru’s intent. Also you can’t slave someone who has no rights. Any other course of action would be them dying or being prisoners. As a prisoner you lose all rights and are no longer a citizen or civilian. Either way they have no rights in the animal kingdom so you can’t call them slaves if we’re being technical. “Laborers” was the correct word for prisoners who do work.

ShrekMedic

Y'all get your jabs yet?

In case you don't know Dryads are tree spirits and they cannot move away from their tree or outside the forest that the tree is located in (that how dryads are in most if not all fantasysettings), they are bound to their tree which is why Rimuru made a wooden doll out of the tree which makes it possible for Treyni to move outside the forest.

Yaboyrocklee

I’m personally vaccinated and so Adorkable. Directornasty has 1 🤦🏾‍♂️

Thamor

I was trusting you boys would react to see those boobies animation and the lizard lady pose too :D

Anonymous

For benimaru skill if im not mistaken its not like he instantly knew each of the enemy movement, but once he had a look of the battlefield, there will be nothing that left his grasp and notice. Basically a perfect skill for a commander

Thamor

Usually that is how Dryads are, but I got the sense that she could leave the forest. Just that her powers outside of the forest would be very weak, now with wooden doll made of her tree she would carry her power with her all the time even to that other dimension where Walpurgis will be held.

Thamor

There is no Sun Tsu trick to win battles against Benimaru, it's either just brute power that will win against him as commander of Tempest Army.

SolitaryLark

I love action when we get it in slime but I never expect it and I think people be in the wrong mind set for slime if they aren’t thinking that way. It’s not an action Shonen lol.

Anonymous

Well i dont mean in strategic warfare sense but just the fact that you can see everything on the battle field and see every enemy movement to little detail is huge advantage for you. Benimaru just got skill that give him perfect spatial awareness of the battlefield which is hella broken

So the particular problem with beating a whole army is what happens to an army whos captical and leadership you have destoried... how are they gonna get their food how are they going to survive without the infratstructure of their country. Classically they take all the fighting exprience and turn to banditry. So this is insurrance against that, the alternative is total annihilation. As for Yamza vs Albis, they are basically of the same "rank" Yamza being Clayman's second and Albis being Carrion's second, so they are evenly matched(ostensibly). Yamza challenged Albis to a One-on-One and then had his people jump her for a distraction, so it's a bit rich him complaining about Gobta's intercept.

SolitaryLark

Yeah Carrion, Frey, and Claymen seem to speak as though there equals meaning there subordinates should be similar as well. Milim was always deferred to by the others but her followers are more religious and don’t seem to be recruited hence why there’s few of them.

SolitaryLark

I think the way Carrions subordinates the three besketeers continue to fight despite his absence and there capital getting blown up speak volumes to how other demon lords are way better leaders then Claymen and in that aspect particularly he’s a joke.

Brian Carotenuto

Don't want to spoil anything but rewatch the anime check out the goblin riders tell me if you see something different about them 🤔

sim

Yeah in radiant the dryad also uses a wood doll form from her tree to leave the forest I believe

Thamor

That is so crazy powerful as like they even said in this episode, armies vs armies isn't 1v1 and with Benimaru you will always control the flow how the fight would go as you can always counter everything your opponent is doing.

Thamor

Well I don't mind that spoiler haha, I was from this episode already suspecting those 2 would get together some snake coil action for Beni :D

Random58

I feel u but it kinda feels like they’re dragging their feet to me. Like it seems like they should at least be at Walpurgis already bc with this pacing I feel like it’s gonna be another whole episode b4 we actually get to see what goes on in the meeting.

SolitaryLark

We’ll just have to disagree I guess, he’ll I’ve read the novels and there’s quite a few things I dislike that they skipped that in other people’s eyes would make it even more “dragged out”.

SolitaryLark

Because really nothing is drug out this story is about relationships conversations, and politics far more then it’s about conflict. Conflict is just a medium to express relations in this show but not the only way speeches treaties and parties and festivals. I’d say 70-80% of the novels is people not in direct conflict

Random58

I’m fine with not having direct conflict or wars it’s just that at times I watch an episode and it feels like the material covered isn’t enough to be it’s own episode. Like when we had basically 2 eps back to back of rimuru talking with the 2 kings. I felt like a lot of that could’ve been condensed into 1 episode. I’m all for intrigue and things of that nature but I just feel that it’s dragging personally.

Skebaba

BTW Born Leader also BUFFS ANY UNITS UNDER HIS COMMAND BY 30%, dunno why the anime didn't mention this when it explained Born Leader...

Skebaba

Yeah. I'm sure the pocket dimension would prevent anyone from entering it once it activates (they mentioned you can only bring 2 attendants for Walpurgis, due to some past fuckery going on, so it's only logical for it to be to prevent anyone from entering it to assassinate or straight up assault ppl once the Walpurgis starts), so Treyni would likely be fucked since I assume she might have a limited time when away from her tree, and thus couldn't respawn there if she faded & spawned back at her body in Jura Forest. I think Veldora should be able to bypass the barrier regardless, since he's connected to Rimuru on Soul-level already, so depending on how the spell works, it might count Veldora already "being" there, since technically Rimuru is there and they are connected via a Soul Corridor and all that. Of course even without this, Veldora could prolly brute-force fuck the barrier up regardless, but I doubt other Demon Lords would like that, yea?

Sturstryk

The other thing is that Shuna doesn't have natural power negation, per se. What she DOES have is a shit ton of magic: aside from Rimuru and Diablo she is probably the most powerful magic user in Tempest. So basically she has protective spells and wards that can counter and negate the effects of mind manipulation abilities, like what she used to counter that otherworlder chick's "Bewilder" unique skill. She does also have a few other things going for her, though the show will probably reveal that later like with Beni's "Born Leader" skill.

Anonymous

I didn’t know that at all. Thanks for the explanation guys.

Brian Carotenuto

I was thinking the same thing for the only reason of her being dressed like a shrine maiden so she probably has all those protective spells that a shrine maiden would have

SonicKing2004

Probably for the same reason it didn't fully explain what Shion is capable of with her Master Chef ability, or the majority of the abilities that Rimuru has access to: they'd spend the majority of the episode on the explanations alone. They figure (quite correctly) that it'd be better to spend the valuable airtime on story and action pieces than all the details of what everyone's capable of: only if one of them does something inexplicable based on what we know about them would it then explain how it's possible due to a facet of their ability.

Skebaba

They could just do what the big brain studio (MAPPA?) is doing w/ Idaten Deities Know Only Peace, where the exposition segments are basically sped up so you can pause the subs if you can't keep up (took me until Episode 6 to finally sync up w/ the expo speed without pausing), but they save on episode runtime to not make it bloated since it's like 2x speed or w/e, so that sometimes adds multiple extra minutes for other things like action or non-expo dialogue to develop character personalities etc

GorillaTaxtiX

Someone probably said this already on YT, but on the off chance that they didn't. The Iliad, The Odyssey, Beowulf, The Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner... etc. All classify to some degree as Epic poetry or just "An Epic" in common reference (The Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner being my favorite... if you ever get bored). Don't know if that was the word you were thinking of, but that's what came to mind when you mentioned Odysseus.

Overlord_Ashalon

Shuna is actually fairly weak compared to the other Kijin. She's the second weakest among them.

Overlord_Ashalon

So according to the book Gobta's highest stat is luck.
