Yea, this was clearly not his best performance. He isn't fighting at his best because his mind and emotion is not in a stable state at this point.

true, we saw glimpses of him breaking down even during the mansion arc where Emilia got him to calm down with the lap pillow. Before getting summoned here, he was a shut-in, so he was not in an emotionally stable state from the start, and the crazy stuff he has been through in the past week or two has definitely not helped. In reality, even if he was the most emotionally stable person from the start, I doubt many would be unfazed by what he's been through for the past 2 weeks.

One thing i realized after watching this show is that while yes his actions and thoughts are crazy ,we all constantly forget he has been murdered almost a dozen times by this point alone.

Cuz honestly to play devils advocate,without his presence and personality being the way it is,Emilia would have been dead episode one.He literally is a mental patient holding on solely to a single goal to stop him from becoming joker.

Now that I think about it, I feel like Subaru was nerfed in his fight against Julius, he was keeping up- even if for a while with Elsa, WHO managed to casually avoid Felt's insane speed and killed her afterwards. He was only doing so WITH a giant mace, while she was handling dual-blade daggers. Stopping her attacks left and right, despite her being pretty strong, I feel like he should've at least given a bit more of a fight before being taken down ( pathetically ).
