The scene where Ryu takes Bell's hand is even more moving after you read the books and understand that elves do not touch or allow others to touch them. They only touch close family, lovers, and that sort. That's why in the bar scene she trapped the dude's hand in the mug handle to hurt him. She wouldn't allow him to touch her, even to hurt him.
