Idk if y’all were saying like this the past by accident but in the episode they mention 5yrs ago losing annie and bertholdt then 4yrs of yr started with this country that just ended there as u saw. So this is 9 yrs after from when we last saw Eren and rest at the sea.

This is 4 years after we saw Eren on the beach with rest of the scouts, this war what I am guessing happened, because the world learned that they lost colossus and female in Paradis (island where Eren is from). This isn't the past, but what is happening now. You learn this when they are talking about losing Female & Colossus in Paradis and Reiner & Zeke talking that they are forced to fight in this war, because they lost in Shiganshina last season. Another I think you forgot Marley (main continent next to Paradis Island) who are the major country/power in this world, because of their titans. Their Eldians are like slaves to them, because they use and are afraid of them. Because with that weird titan juice they can be turned to titans and only eldians can be one of the 9 titans. Hopefully this jogs some of your memory of the story. There came out a recap movie for AOT, maybe watch that on your own time as it felt like you guys forgot a lot of the main lore of the show. ps. Why didn't you tell Adorkable to watch herself this top 5 anime ever made, spoiling her now with mystery of this story takes away if she decides to watch.

Yea I’m up to speed again. Only thinking this was the past was my screw up lol. Which doesn’t make sense now but by the first 5 minutes i had already concluded its the past lol. Why didn’t i tell her? She knew of attack on titan. She came to do food wars and episode was released earlier and she happened to join instead of having to wait down stairs or something. She’s cool. We used to tell each other the whole movie before the other watched it lol

I wanted to make here my traditional essay Overlord style to explain some things, but since there is shit ton of flashbacks in Attack on Titan, and at this point I have no idea where what was on a timeline (I mean...I know in what time what happend, but dont know what chapter what was shown) so to avoid accidental spoilers there is no essay :(
