It's accualy the only moment in the story with possibility of "happy ending" as happy as Re:Zero can have. The longest (entire series, and still outgoing one) side story begins here. Sloth WHAT IF. Known aslo as "Rem WHAT IF". It is made into movie/mini-series, cuz one bilionare IRL is crazy Rem simp, and founded it, so I won't tell much...but by leaving everything behind. A litteraly mountain of corpses left behind, but Subaru and Rem have something you can call Happy Ending. In far away land, relativly normal life, as family... It's at the same time the most depressing side story. All others are basicly "main story, but went horribly horribly wrong" (btw. Pride WHAT IF is on the way, I'm editing it right now to cut out all main-story spoilers), but here we have Subaru giving up. Leaving everything behind, letting Villagers, Ram, Emilia, and many many others die in horrible way, in exchange for his own "happy ending"...the ultimate sloth.

"I love Emilia" scene third time hurt as much as the second...but Director getting litteraly stunned makes it a bit funnier. But you know...post above that. There was no correct answer. Subaru either breaks Rem hearth, or lets all vilagers, Ram, and Emilia die. And many many more...oh yea, and Puck will destroy the world...I need to re-read what happend with that elephant in the room in SLOTH/Rem WHAT IF

About the different sins I just want to clarify some things for you. Subaru is not Sloth, Petelgeuse actually is, he even presented himself multiple times as the "Archbishop of Sloth", but you are mostly correct, in the beginning of this episode, Subaru is being slothful by wanting to run away and not do anything to fix things. Actually, there is an alternative story called "Re:IF Sloth" which describes what would have happened if Rem accepted to run away with him, so yeah in this episode Subaru has to face his slothful self. Also there is a difference between Witches and Archbishop, while they both bear the name of the cardinal sins, they are different. Here are some informations that were in previous dialogues which you might have missed or forgot : - Beatrice mentions that Satella, the Witch of Envy, actually killed all the other witches - Petelgeuse keeps calling Subaru "Pride", because of all the Archbishop, only the seat of Pride is vacant, and he thinks he is an Archbishop because the Witch's smell is really strong on Subaru, that's what he is referring to as "love" Your reaction to the "I love Emilia" part is totally normal, I'll admit I was the same the first time I watched it. But actually, it makes a lot of sense and is completely in line with the flow of the episode. When Rem refuses to run away with him she says something like this "If I run away with you now, I would be leaving behind the Subaru I love the most" and it's not a random line, the Subaru she loves does everything for Emilia, tries to save Emilia, loves Emilia, she already knew that and that's a part of him that she loves too. You also said that Subaru does not really have any reason to love Emilia, and I will agree, the first reason he loves her is just because he has a crush on her, but honestly that's not all, he admires her selflessness for saving him the first time she met him when she had no reason to, you said it was not enough but I think it's still something big in his mind. Is that enough ? I don't know, but in the end, you don't really choose who you love. In this episode, Subaru is faced with is true self, he recognizes what his flaws are and acknowledges the mistake he has made. One of them being that trying to make Emilia understand why he did all these things for her by only saying "I did it for you, not for me" was wrong. He does all these things, not for her, but for him, because he loves her. I think it's pretty nice that he recognizes that. And that's why he is saying it to Rem, it's not to reject her, it's to show her that the hero she loves is back.

Ram not remembering... somebody... *shrug* is probably the saddest thing. So, YaBoy is voting for Felt? I wouldn't say Subaru learned the wrong lesson, but just gave up. I would say Subaru knew who he was, subconciously, at least. Much as ya'll hate him, he hated himself more. And, much as I love Conti's VA... do have to give props to Subaru's Forgot how much this episode hurt. ANd yea, "If it will help you greet the future with I smile, then I'll help you." That being said, you can't help who you love. And, to be fair, he does love Rem. He also just loves Emilia, since he came into this world. Admittedly, the way he learned who he was and how to confront it, is more than i'd wish on many. Even you guys said before, everything he did is for Emilia. Nope, gotta be team Felix. I'd windmill slam that ship button. But, this is a dock show. No hands came outta Subaru, Conti was pissed he could see them. Curious to see if you still think same ways by the end :P I will say, I do agree with Rem, that Subaru was a little cruel. I wouldn't say no reason...but to be fair, he did build a relationship w\ her & puck, more than she saw, though. Interesting you didn't talk about how Subaru may have changed from these realizations.

Yeah, some major imprinting went on in those first few episodes to cement his feelings for Emilia. Transported to a new world, expectations of power or some greater purpose shattered, killed multiple times (remembers the pain of each death) & the only person to treat him decently through it all was Emilia. Also I think this episode makes people forget that Rem has killed him before & as much as I'm sure Subaru cares for Rem I wouldn't be surprised if that trauma is still in the back of his mind.
