You can definitely see what made the difference here. We didn't want to marathon W: Two Worlds back-to-back. The episodes were dragging a bit, so we switched it up and watched two episodes of Hotel Del Luna instead. I dropped both episodes on the same day because they felt like a package deal—Episode 1 just isn’t complete without the resolution you get in Episode 2.

Gotta say, I love the actress from W: Two Worlds. She was incredible in Happiness and Moving, but honestly, even though she’s adorable, she doesn’t hold my attention without Kang driving the story forward. I’m a big fan of strong female leads like the ones in Hotel Del Luna, No Gain No Love, Mr. Queen, Queen of Tears, Love Next Door, and It’s Okay to Not Be Okay.

Buuuut What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim and Marry My Husband (same actress) had a different vibe that worked just fine, and I gotta give a shoutout to the homegirl in Lovely Runner—how many times did we hear Sunjae in that? She was clocking in some serious overtime, LOL! I also don’t mind Kim Sejeong's character in Business Proposal. These ladies were out here getting things done, no cap!

Anyway, that’s my two cents, LOL. To be clear, W: Two Worlds is a well-written show, but my main investment is in the thriller aspects—Kang, the creator, the killer, the powers, and all the plot twists. I enjoy when the show shifts to rom-com mode, but there’s this transition phase where the female lead isn’t really in romance mode, Kang’s got his back against the wall, and she has to carry the story. That’s where it kinda loses me. But when it’s fully in on either the romance or the thriller—it absolutely smacks!

I love hearing all of your different experiences with these dramas, it's so fun!! I hope you love Hotel del Luna, it's one of my favorites 🥹 (out of a list of like 15 haha)

I hear you on W: Two Worlds. I previously dropped it halfway coz the female lead wasn't really captivating me but started rewatching with you guys for the thriller parts. Hotel del luna's female lead is in my hall of fame (in no particular order): - Ko Moon-Young = It's OK to not be OK - Jo Yi-Seo = Itaewon Class - Jang Man-Wol = Hotel Del Luna - Hong Cha-Young = Vincenzo - Hong Hae-In = Queen of Tears - Shin Ha-Ri = Business Proposal - Lee Yeon-Seo = Angel Last Mission: Love (same one from Mr.Queen) - Naksu = Alchemy of Souls All of the above had visuals that were my type combined with a personality I liked/found interesting……there’s an obvious trend here😂

There's a lot of play-on-words in ChanSung's dialogue with Man Wol in Korean -- they're constantly one-upping each other, making puns on what the other said, etc. For example, that moment in the subs where you noted he comes across slow, in Korean he comes across more like he's a know-it-all purposely taking her words too literally. There's a few cultural references that are hard to translate, but basically, she says he'll need to entertain their guest spirits, and he puns about them being a cult, doing "kuts" (a ritual a "mudang" (female shaman) hosts to entertain gods/spirits). ChanSung: Is this a cult? Does Del Luna's mudang perform kuts? ManWol: It's a hotel! We're registered with the Jung-gu District Office. ChanSung: I searched all night on registered hotel sites, there was no evidence of a "Hotel Del Luna" in business. ManWol: Of course you couldn't find us on a hotel site, we don't cater to humans. ChanSung: Right, you cater to ghosts. So what services do we provide, exorcism? He's less "slow" and more "intentionally difficult." So he comes across like he's testing her as much as she's testing him.

Also I feel you on W. It lost me at that ep too, but gained me back a bit by the end. That show starts brilliant but the female lead loses a lot of momentum in the story.

Love it. I'm happy you guys are staying open about Man Wol. She's such a great character, in terms of style, looks, personality. She's complicated and I love her. Love the cast, but especially the music. I think it's just haunting and perfect.

I remembered this series making me teared up multiple times when I was watching throughout the episodes. There’s a lot of people cutting onions when I watch this series 😂 And I’m sure you boys and gal are starting to notice IU (Man Wol, FL) in her own fashion show. Every different scene she’s appeared in will be in a different set of clothes. Lee, you will not see the same piece Twice 😉🤓

Melany Castillo

I knew you'd like the female lead of this story. She is totally your type.

IU said it was easy to get emotional for the scene where Manwol says goodbye to Mr. No, the previous manager, because the actor has played her father in a different show, and they became very close.

Damn the grooming and gaslighting done to our guy in this show :D

Thamor

She is about everyone's type with all the clothes she keeps showing and that model walking around :D

Thamor

Haha noticed John your comment and noticed the dress swapping in all the new scenes she is, maybe 100 clothes until this is over :D
