*SPOILERS* In my opinion, this show broke its own messaging. It spent 15 episodes teaching us that abandoning your child for career is bad. The ML is still suffering from that decision. His mother regrets it and almost lost her family because of it. Ok, we get it, it is bad. But then, we are supposed to see miss South Pole picking career, just a month after asking that sweet little girl if she can be her new mom, as a good thing? Are we now supposed to see this as a happy ending for that 'family'? That is not the kind of mom that little girl needs! The writers really shit the bed. I get that kdrama's are in love with the, prove your love by supporting your partner's career, trope. BUT. You can't tack that onto the end of a show, for a couple that has a child to consider, right after teaching us that that is a bad decision. Bah. Really left a bad taste with me.

I don’t even think that was the message. ML’s Mom didn’t just choose her career, she kept choosing it and let it consume the time she should have spent with her family. Also I think it’s funny that most of the burden is on her, especially because his Dad is a doctor and they are notorious for not having a lot of time with their family. We see him being raised by FL’s Mom and that’s because both parents weren’t available. As for the friend, if she had stayed in Korea and not taken the opportunity, I would have been pissed. It’s only for a year or so, not forever. She’s been looking forward to this for ages. There is a difference. Also, that little girl was raised pretty well by her Dad (uncle) for years, the type of Mom she needs will be the one that she and her Dad have chosen and they can make of it what they want. Miss me with that Leave it to Beaver shit please.

@Ken. It's not the same situation. Her assignment is only for one year and she is not married to him yet. It was her dream job and a one in a life time experience. She didn't know she would get it and the relationship just started. She's not obligated to turn it down and shouldn't have to feel guilty about it, even though she is.

I loved this show! I don't think we needed a wedding for the two couples. They gave us a renewal for his parents already. They also showed us that the couples are strong and will most likely live happily ever after. ❤️ I enjoyed watching and rewatching with you guys. It's a different fun when you have both husband and wife's point of view instead of just one side. I hope you guys do more shows together! ❤

A one year trip isn't the same as 14 years of being away from your mother.

I think this is the first time I've watched the husband and wife duo reaction, and I'm definitely a fan. I loved the commentary on the family and romantic relationships in the show. I did like the ending, BUT I am also a big fan of wedding scenes at the end and/or flash forwards for the leads. I'm not sure why, but I do usually like a nice wrap up.

Anah!

I don’t think it spent 15 episodes making us think that choosing your career breaks a family. The family choi had multiple issues mainly communication that caused them to grow further apart but each of them thought they were not good enough and didn’t deserve them. With Mudflat hero couple we see they are breaking any miscommunication and misconceptions. They are just starting their relationship but they are building it with a solid foundation putting all their feelings and secrets out. Throughout this drama we see different family dynamics and each family lacks whether they are distanced or tight. No one is perfect but with family if you have love it’s not too late to patch things up and adapt to make the family better. The message I saw in this drama is the message of family, the family you create with friends and those around you. That no matter your mistakes and fights in the end they will be there for you no matter how low you fall.

I too dont see the issue. This child has a loving father, and now a loving grandmother. She a great child that has been well provided for. They touched in the TIMING of this career opportunity. She been working towards prior to meeting them and JUST met them. Lol. It was equaly be odd if she gave up on her dreams as well so suddenly. Many adults in her situation would probably still go or break up. So its a reasonable plot point reflecting adult choices. She didnt have to choose because she found a supportive partner who fell for her because shes basically a superhero. Remember he became fond of her seeing her save the drunk guy and hasnt been entertaining women until her. Hes strong enough to let her blossom and loves her for it.

The ML mother and father were virtually emotionally unavailable to him and each other. 3 decades they only had 1 family picture lol. One, his mother used harsh words which he overheard and her guilt ate at her for 20+ years. She was CONSTANTLY for their whole life. But the issue was never about her choosing her career, it was about her lack of balance between career and family

The paramedic is at the start of that stage we are left having to give her the benefit of the doubt that she will do better

I personally loved the ending. Sometimes when shows show the characters getting/doing everything (ex for this show is the wedding) it can make the show feel like it’s just over after the last scene. The way they ended it makes me feel that the characters are still existing and living a life even after the last scene and I love that!

Kinda late because I really didn't have time to get into a new drama. I think it's the first time when I watch a reaction with your wife and honestly, I wouldn't mind to see more in the future. It was definitely interesting to see another woman's perspective. There were some slow moments but I did like the kdrama overall and it was nice to watch it with you, guys:)
