For the beginning discussion I feel like fans would rather kill the female lead. They would having her coming out of no where. Probably harass at her job too.

To answer Adorkable, the main character's dad is the main villain in Train to Busan. The evil businessman. The one that caused more damage to the main characters than the zombies. He might be my most hated KDrama villain because of how much damage he caused.

J Man

Her hair is actually the difference. A year before this came out she started in a movie called Beauty Inside where she looks like she did in Happiness. For this she dyed her hair brown and got bangs. Somehow that makes her looks vastly different, I agree. She can rob a bank, get bangs, and get away Scot free. It also proves she's a great actress with range. She did a great job as a middle aged mom in Moving. MILF level

J Man

Ugh, sadly, you're right. I hate drama and anime fandoms for being so petty

Jana Bcles

its always so funny when ppl comment about her role in moving and how she played a mom when shes literally 37 years old so not that crazy to be a mom of a teenager but i get it. she just looks very young and were used to her "younger" roles 🤣

J Man

First time I watched it, and even now, I agree with Lee that Secretary Yoon was right in that she's a great character. She took action on something that seemed off, which was right. What she should have done tho was consult Lee Jong Suk and bodyguard first . I mean? Who knew that God would send his only begotten Daughter down in order to save Lee Jong Suk

Gianella B.

Being a mom at 20 is not crazy but not very common haha And even though you can be a mom at 20 (which she would have to be to be the mom of ML in Moving if she is 37yo), I don't think her character in Moving was. She was older. Her roles definitely play a huge part in how different she feels. I love her in Moving and Happiness, where she is more mature and badass, but she used to play many cutesy (and smart, but definitely cute) FL, like in W and Dong Yi. Going from that to Moving is surprising!

J Man

I like that this show is "better" Truman Show

Gianella B.

Tbh, I agreed with Director. The romance (so far) is not the most organic and enjoyable to watch because it feels a bit random (why does she like him so much?). But after thinking about it, it kind of makes sense. Research shows that for many of us, our brain processes fiction as reality. So we care about characters the same way we care about people. That would explain FL caring so much about ML and also, fan wars over books and series (eg. Bridgerton 2). Fiction is fake to the mind, but to the heart, it's real.

Yaboyrocklee

Yes. I have been heavily disappointed seeing animated characters lose out in their crush or die. And when you see them cosplayed, its so cool. You want a picture. So i get it

Yaboyrocklee

I beloved she figured it out and was referring to While You Were sleeping as we were watching both at once. But yeah. Also train to Busan

Fatima Bah

I feel like you guys are forgetting that the Dad isn't writing anything when the FL is in the book, it all writes itself. So no, he is not making the secretary or any of them do anything right now.

Ed Hwang

I thought anime fans would go for the harem option, no need for all this violence.

Yaboyrocklee

I am not forgetting that. It’s mostly trolling. Tbe show is tackling the theme of them being real people with autonomy . AdorkableNerd keeps getting mad at the secretary and i keep saying she’s following her programming. Even if the author isn’t actively writing they act based on how he designed them for the most part. I believe that without forgetting the details

Yaboyrocklee

All good. I say it to troll. But i do believe that. It’s basically Nature Vs Nurture. But not really

Jana Bcles

yeah i wasnt talking about her actual age in comparison to her roles age just meant that its not that uncommon for 35+ year olds to take on roles as parents sometimes. we are just used to a lot of 30+ year old asian actors to still play highschoolers thats why i thought its funny haha. and i agree its def always surprising when actors go from cutesy to mature roles.

Snax

Are you guys saying the dad is from While You Were Sleeping? Who is he in there?

Pilausky

12 more eps at this pace, we might see nukes after all 😂

Sal

Ive waiting you guys uploads but with him isekai-ing himself it's straight to Viki! This show is good.

A

I think secretary yoon is mostly in the right. she has seen her boss/friend hold a woman hostage and shoot at her. sending her away without his knowledge is the right move, what was wrong is that she thinks the hostage is the bad guy and needs to explain herself to the police. One of the understated reveals of this episode is that in W, a manhwa with a 7 year run, and 33 volumes so far, the main plot objective is for Kang Cheol to find justice for his dead family and they have never found a single lead or clue to the real killer in all the 10 in universe years since the murders. What happens in this comic? It was supposed to end about two issues ago.

A

I think it's that she does like him, and is invested in him already as a character, but she also sees him as a real living human being partly because her first interaction with him was such a visceral (and bloody) experience. And he is also a person that her own father is trying to kill. That's got to mess her up a little bit.

Becca

This show's always swinging for the fences and never lets itself get comfortable. It doesn't answer its formative question, either, it just sort of presents it to you: when a thing tells you it's alive, do you believe it? It's up to us to decide if we do. I think it makes sense that dad, the self-aggrandizing writer, refuses to believe Kang Cheol's alive, but Yeon Joo, the doctor, immediately believes it. Things from Kang Cheol's world exist when they travel to the real world, so how fake IS that world? And then there's the meta issue the writing winks at, that both worlds, technically, are fake -- both are inside a kdrama. You guys pointed out how often it feels like we're watching a finale every episode, and that's such a good point. I think that's intentional.

Zipzip

Have you ever read Rental Gf? yeah. i assume that's what happened.

Shantal Kalicharan

I have a theory about why Kang Cheol says he doesnt think Yeon Joo is pretty - maybe it's because Secretary Yoon is the Female Lead and he's supposed to only find her attractive. But his sentient/awakened self is attracted to Yeon Joo so he's confused.

RENISNOTOK

I don’t think thats the the same actor from while you sleeping the 2 authors are different actors

J Man

1:02:10 That comment is accurate. So accurate, that Lee Jong Suk's KDrama he starred in before this was Pinocchio (A drama starring Park Shin Hye as the female lead. The writer is the writer who did While You Were Sleeping)
