Yeah this episode feels relatable as fuck, balancing creative choices with business choices is hard enough for each individual. Now with having to deal eith transforming a piece of art from one medium to another it just multiplies the complexity. Reall cool episode

As someone who writes stories, I can relate to the manga author a lot. The idea of something you worked so hard and put so much care into being changed so much would be infuriating, and the sad thing is GAO clearly felt the same about some of the changes, in episode 1 he showed he was dissatisfied with some of the changes they had to make. They're both super relatable with their frustrations at the situation. Oshi No Ko is about the entertainment industry, but the big theme of the show is communication. So many of the problems and struggles in the show are the result of poor communication. Ai struggled with communicating her feelings to her fans, she struggled to communicate her love to her children, her death was caused by her communicating with her ex. Aqua is suffering and struggling with issues on his own because he refuses to communicate with others, he isolates himself often, and even those close with him, Ruby being the big example, doesn't know what he's going through or why. Kana's character arc from her being a bratty child who wouldn't work well with other, to her crush where she doesn't show Aqua how she feels but wallows in her jealousy, is caused by her inability to effectively communicate her feelings also. Meanwhile the characters who do communicate well are significantly happier. Ruby is clear in her desire and feelings about how she wants to follow in Ai's footsteps, Akane had issues at first, but after she was helped through them, she's been pretty communicative, she expresses her worries and doubts more, and is proactive when she wants something. The show is just great.

Sometimes things be like this. You worked your ass off and did your best, but others who matters to your success only see the superficial side of things and dismissed all your efforts. Or those classic situations where you worked nonstop and took a 30 sec break just to take a sip of water where your boss just happens to walk in and see you not working 🥲

I feel really bad for the scriptwriter rather than the author, since he got shitty instructions to work with, the author was toxic also(which was understandable)

Yep, you're right, Ruroni Kenshin is commonly cited as one of the best Live Action shows that have been produced. It helps that the story is already somewhat realistic to begin with. One big issue with adaptations is that if the author is giving a lot of input, this can negatively impact their usual work, sometimes a lot. Most of the time they already have zero free time just keeping their new chapters published out on time every week, so they can barely make time to give input. In the past 5 years, Oda has taken an unusually high number of weeks off from writing One Piece, which is probably why he was able to work on the Live Action. Other authors can't take weeks off like that because their stories would just get cancelled to make room for something else. Danmachi Season 4 of Danmachi was extra special (apart from getting more episodes, which is probably the #1 factor) was because the novel author, Fujino Omori, was credited for the role of Series Composition and personally supervised all of the scripts. In exchange, he didn't publish ANY new novels that year (previously he had normally done at least 1 or 2 novels a year).

Please please don't cut off the end credits i love it so much and i just wish people would sit and get the feel of the song [Burning] the lyrics are kind of brutal but feels so right for Oshinoko. Give the ED a chance to Breathe my brothers!!

I hope the mangaka works alongside the scriptwriter to redo the script. I feel like both could learn a lot from each other and it would be peak as hell. But we’ll see what happens. Fantastic episode.
