As far as any of the party were ‘really’ concerned, their actual goal was to just ‘talk’ with the lunatic magician (to get him to let Falin go, maybe trade notes) with not even a pipe dream of actually taking him down with just their group (they were lucky with the red dragon, and still almost lost half of the squad). Like, they haven’t spared a minute to discuss /actually/ convincing him, but that’s the best option they had… until taking him out got brought up by Yaad. . Also, the monsters of the village are under the mage’s command to not attack the citizens; he fully has known where they are all along. The issue is that the king successfully /left/, made it to the surface, and then got dusted like a vampire in sunlight. The mage either “missed” that happening, or cannot comprehend that it happened, and is having his dogs (monsters) searching for someone they can’t /possibly/ find. . Dwarves and elves ‘seem to be’ around the same threshold of “long lived races,” though I think only elves were stated to have an age cap around 500. . Also, reckon that’s another reason or two why Kabru’s good against people, but bad against monsters; Utaya became a minefield of people becoming monsters, and he got trained ‘by’ a competent fighter to the point that he could have been a soldier, if elves didn’t insist on treating other races like children in all aspects.

In Laios' defense if he said he was hearing voices constantly and seeing ghosts most people will think he's crazy. (which he kind of is but not like hearing voices crazy.)

Also Gnomes are. While Dwarves & Elves are essentially on the opposite sides of the spectrum of idealized races (from agelet POV I mean), Gnomes are more or less somewhere in the middle, and for some reason nobody rly cares about them as much as Elves or Dwarves as far as role models etc go. After all besides the Elves' magic system, the Gnomes have their own magic system as well that has its own differences etc. Basically Gnomes, Dwarves & Elves all see the agelet races as little kids basically. Edit: just checked wiki, and Elves have avg lifespan of 400, Gnomes 240, Dwarves 200
