In this world, "humans" refer to all the human-like species: Tall-men, Half-foots, Elves, Dwarves, Gnomes, Ogres There are also "demi-humans" like Kobolds and Orcs. Kabru is a Tall-man, he was just saying humans are easier to kill than monsters. It wasn't really supposed to mean he himself isn't human.

the fact that half-foots, elves, dwarves, gnomes are humans races is a very interesting piece of worldbuilding

Yeah, I went into it thinking it was just going to be a silly monster cooking show, and I ended up loving the worldbuilding of the setting, races, monsters, etc. I'm not surprised that the author got hooked on Baldur's Gate 3.

Some others have said it a certain way, that Kabru is an anti-Laios (where Laios is a monster pro, Kabru is a human pro), though that’s really just a key difference between them. Kabru watches and studies people the way Laios studies monsters, short of any inclination to cook and eat them (… probably). . When Senshi was sorting out the Treasure Bugs, he /did/ sort out some real jewels/gold, but he said it was fine for Chilchuk to dispose of it, only stating that it was inedible because it was real at the last moment. So, technically, they /did/ steal what treasure they did get, just to immediately cast it into a pit and learn the meaning of regret. 5% chance that gets said as an explanation for what happened, if they remember goofing that bad.

@IRIGAMAGORI well i assume its just the same as 'humanoid' as a catchall term for sapient races that are mostly physically similar to humans in dnd and the rest of the western fantasy genre

They never explain this in the main story, but "dark elves" is a term that non-elves use to refer to elves they consider wicked or evil. Elves who have dark-skin aren't automatically "dark elves". It's why Chilchuck suspects Marcille to be a dark elf even though she doesn't have dark skin.
