my boyfriend got his account suspended for six months mid raid tanking and literally half my guild is gone. My own account however is hail and hearty. Its the universe's way of telling him he needs to help me mow the lawns more often. I just needed to put that out there, sorry.

Never played it, don't plan on doing so...

Wide spread bans? Isn't that the kind of thing poorly run mmo's do? To try and scare off cheaters etc. Personally I hope this bit of nonsense finally kills Wow. Don't get me wrong loved wow for years. However the Azeroth of today is not the same Azeroth I fell in love with. It's been a shell of it's former self for years. IMO the only thing Wow is doing for the MMO Genre atm in my opinion is suppressing newer younger MMO's from actually getting anywhere. Wow is so massive and so mainstream it's really impossible for new blood to enter the Genre. You can do everything right. And still fail.

I really like that interpretation of the bans xD But yeah gotta agree with Merku WoW is just not the same anymore but yeah that thing will take time to time because it got so big and well known over the years of its prime

Just an fyi, the accounts that got banned were not random, Blizzard ran a thorough check on accounts that were using bots. This includes scripted interrupts, botting that might have done in the days of olde (such as to raise weapon skills, which are now long gone), and the new problem where too many bots are filling spots in battlegrounds and LFR raids. If your boyfriend was a MT for a heavy raiding guild, chances are he might have been using scripted interrupts, because well, they -are- very handy, but sadly it's against the ToS. If this was a first offense the ban shouldn't be permanent though. Just letting you know because I know a lot of people that were not aware some of these things that seem like harmless addons are actually against the ToS.

yeah, he botted leveling alts, not in any actual encounters or pvp but pure leveling. He'd stopped about two months (ish) ago but was just inside the window of when Blizz's sweeping. He was going to quit until the ban was over but his best friend was nearly in tears because she'd just resubbed to play with us and he'd got suspended literally two days later. He's fired up another account and nothing has changed. Apart from the botting, he's learned his lesson. I hope.

Its mostly become a way to hang out with irl mates for us but I quit my sub as soon as the tokens came in. I loved Dreanor with a passion but now it's just... meh. Habit I guess? Like pining for a lost love? But yeah, I do agree! I don't get a lot of time to play, I'd sooner be arting but I'm thinking of finishing up wild star, GW2 and so on once this months ended.

Merku

Oh I love Wildstar. It's more hardcore then Wow but not too much. Do you play Exiles or Dominion? Maybe we can form a guild on Wildstar? FWI. End game is surprisingly engaging and they keep adding new stuff. Hell if you do form a guild could call it "Maple's Moons". Etc.

It's the massive population. Any new MMO will have a Stigma because like when we compare cars. Since competing games within the same Genre do not get compared the same way as MMOs. People may Compare two FPS games. However if they like both they will get and play both. People look at Wow. Subs 14 something Million (Though I hear it's lost 3 something Million in a month. I think it was the selfie Patch.) Then they look at the New MMO Wildstar or GW2 etc. Both excellent games but people will look and say. "But Wow has 10 Million something More players." Most people who join an MMO wanna be able to not only play with their friends but also make new ones. It's difficult to introduce friends to a lesser known but quality MMO. Believe me I tried. People have been hating the content and design philosophy of Wow for a while. If there is one thing Star Wars Galaxies taught an top dog's MMO's worst enemy is it's own development team. I am starting to wonder if the Selfie patch and the other unpopular moves lately will be Wow's SWG moment. The MMO Genre has been dominated by Fantasy for Decades. The sub Numbers on Wow is kinda what dooms new MMOs. Quality dungeons, quality player housing, graphics, story, fun classes, character customization etc. That's stuff a new MMO can control about it self. However potential players will always compare sub numbers. And too many people use sub numbers as a judge of quality. The only MMO to be successful with low Subs I know of would be Eve. However they from the get go made a system that could be profitable even with low subs. Something other MMO's can't seem to figure out without looking like they're either dying or empty.

Awwww! Yeah playing with friends is always more fun c: I can honestly understand that... I'm terrible at leveling because I hate the grind that leveling is after you've already experienced the content on a main. I'd be tempted to bot in that case :p I resubbed to try WoD out, wasn't disappointed, though I tend to focus on raiding progression, and the raids are pretty neat! The PvE is what always drags me back. Now that WoW tokens are out, the game basically turned free to play too, so that will increase the longevity of my account's life.
