Alrighty, it's about time I went over the results of the polls I posted during the past few months. I will express my thoughts on the results, what I expected, what surprised me and what kind of impact the results may have on my art in the short and long term.

If you're here for art news and not interested in all this poll stuff, here's the summary; Exclusive content update coming in near future. Four digital doodles so far. Also, another finished work coming very soon. Later this week, possibly.

Now, onto the poll results.

Poll 1: Dialogue

This poll was about whether people prefer my art to have dialogue or not. Dialogue means lines of text on the image expressing what the characters are saying. The equivalent of speech bubbles in comics.

My expectations were along the lines of 50/50.

Results (49 votes):
Prefer dialogue: 88%
Don't prefer dialogue: 12%

Thoughts:
Needless to say, this surprised me somewhat. Usually in the comments left on works in my galleries the preference has been roughly 50/50, equally split between "love the dialogue" and "ugh, that dialogue is so cheesy". Apparently, those who like the dialogue in my art are more likely to pledge on Patreon.

In future:
Knowing these results, I will try to make sure majority of future works come with at least an optional version with dialogue. For example, the latest image 'Rin and Hane assfucked' wasn't meant to have any dialogue initially, but I made such a version available, if a little scarce on text.

Poll 2: Original / Fanart

The second poll was about whether people prefer my art to feature original character designs, or characters from anime and games.

My expectations were that people prefer fanart at least as much as originals, maybe even more.

Results (50 votes):

Prefer originals: 62%
Prefer fanart: 38%

Thoughts:
Again, I was slightly surprised. Initially anyway. Then I started thinking back on my older works, and realized that many of the popular works, such as Slumber Party Crashers, Anal Sisters and many others, featured original characters. Granted, the most popular works are fanart, but still, originals are liked too.

In future:
Personally, my preference varies a lot. Sometimes I just want to draw lots of random cheerleaders, while other times I want to try drawing a ton of different cuties from anime shows. Right now, I'm into fanart. There's also the fact that I often have a hard time coming up with ideas other than cheerleaders, geeks and schoolgirls. Maybe the occasional elf or the like. Regardless, I will try to keep the ratio of original and fanart roughly 50/50, to please fans of both content types. For the immediate future though, expect mostly fanart.

Poll 3: Solo/Group

This poll was about whether people like my artworks to feature a single girl (solo), or two or more girls (group).

I honestly had no idea what to expect. I've never looked at the overall popularity of each type.

Results (45 votes):

Prefer solo: 51%
Prefer group: 49%

Thoughts:
Since I had no expectations, I wasn't that surprised by the results. Except maybe how evenly the votes went. Basically it's a 50/50 spread.

In future:
I guess I'll just keep going like normal regarding this. I do both solo and group pics regularly. Maybe slightly more group pics, as out of the most recent 20 finished pics, only 6 have been group pics.

Poll 4: Action or no action

This one is about whether people prefer the art to feature (anal or other) penetration, no penetration (girl just showing butt, etc), or after penetration pics (cum-stained rears). So, first poll with more than two options.

My expectations regarding results were that penetration would win by a fair margin.

Results (45 votes):

Prefer no penetration: 8%
Prefer penetration: 84%
Prefer messy butts: 8%

Thoughts:
Somewhat as expected. Maybe wasn't expecting penetration to win by that much, but wasn't greatly surprised by the results.

In future:
This one is a bit tricky for me. I like drawing all three image types equally, and find the idea of making four out of five of my works, or even more, penetration pics, to be somewhat uninspiring. However, I'll try to take this preference into account, at least in cases where I'm not totally sure whether I want penetration in the artwork or not. In those cases I can lean towards penetration.

Poll 5: Pledges for batches of works

This poll is about whether people like the idea that I would sometimes post a batch of lower quality works, doodles and such, and charge a pledge for the batch. Essentially same as what my normal exclusive content updates are, but always some colored works included. The poll is essentially about how many works a batch would need to have for it to be appealing to pledge for. There was also an option for 'any amount' and 'wouldn't like pledging for batches'.

I was expecting to see some dislike for the idea, plenty of support for 2-3 work batches, and the rest pretty evenly spread elsewhere.

Results (35 votes):

Any amount is fine: 49%
2-3 works: 29%
4-5 works: 8%
6 or more: 3%
Wouldn't like to pledge for batches: 6%

Thoughts:
Now this was very informative. It tells me that roughly 50% of patrons are willing to pledge for just about any kind of artworks. I'm somewhat humbled that the result is that high. Closely followed by '2-3 works' at 29% of votes. Interestingly, the 6% for the dislikes of the idea were the first two votes, which lead me to believe initially that people weren't liking the idea. I have to say I find it somewhat odd that the poll only had 35 votes total, considering the importance of what putting this idea in practice would have on my Patreon campaign.

In future:
The overall impression I got from this was that it would be safe to do this sometimes. In fact, I technically did this recently when I posted the exclusive artwork featuring four pics of Chiaki from Hinako Note. Those pics were all lower quality works, with a bit of extra polish thrown in. They were all colored pics though, and the initial idea here was that some pics might not be colored. Maybe down the line I'll try that too, but for now, business as usual.

Poll 6: Bondage

This poll was simply about how much bondage people would tolerate in my works. With bondage I'm referring to anything from wrists being tied with tape or cord, to completely bound in rope and unable to move. The poll had options ranging from none to the extreme.

My expectations were that minor bondage would get the most votes,  decreasing by each increase in amount of bondage, and a fair bit of votes for no bondage at all.

Results (54 votes):

No bondage: 6%
Tiny amount (wrists tied, etc): 6%
Some bondage (limbs tied, wiggle room): 33%
Lots of bondage (movement restricted): 19%
Hardcore bondage (gags, blindfolds, etc): 37%

Thoughts:
This poll by far surprised me the most. I had no idea that over a third of you out there fancy bondage that goes to the extreme, or that another third of you is fine with girls being well bound, if still able to move a bit.

In future:
Obviously, I need to explore bondage a bit more in my works. Truthfully, it's not something I'm super excited about myself, but a lot of the time the girls in my works need to be held down somehow, or they'd be able to get away from the situation. The guys could be holding the girls, of course, but in some cases, maybe just tying them up for the guys to be able to focus on the 'fun stuff' would be a better idea. I will be exploring that aspect in my art in the future. One of the doodles in the upcoming exclusive content update is in fact of two cheerleaders thoroughly bound and suspended from the ceiling while some guys make sure the girls make up for the absences of the recent after-game service. With their butts, of course. There's quite a bit of rope.

Closing words

And that's it for the polls so far. I will be doing more polls down the line about art and pledge related things, and I hope most of you will participate.

I've mentioned this before, but I'd really love it if more of you would leave comments and feedback on my posts and works. Particularly I'd like to hear feedback on exclusive content works, such as doodles previews, as some of those may end up finished in higher detail, IF there's interest and motivation for it. I can understand that leaving comments is difficult as I'm not posting the exclusive content directly to my patreon feed, but sending it via the message system to those eligible. However, you can simply reply to the message itself, or you can email me at harmonist11 [at] gmail [dot] com . Your privacy is respected, so any comments you send directly to me will stay with me, and me only.

Just to put this in perspective, since establishing myself on Patreon, I can only remember one (1) instance of someone leaving a comment on a batch of exclusive content without me having asked for feedback somewhere. Just one. Perhaps I'm forgetting a case or two, but seriously, it basically never happens. Don't fall into the trap of thinking that I'm some super busy celebrity that you just can't get in contact with. Seriously, being contacted about my art is what I'm lacking! ^^; I appreciate all the monetary support your patronage provides, of course, but engaging with my fans would be just as motivating, if not even more, so please do consider sending feedback on... basically anything.

Thanks for reading this far. For supporting my art. And I hope you'll enjoy all the new butts headed your way very soon. :)

Would you consider taking suggestions to draw certain characters

Harmonist11

Certainly. However, I have to admit personal interests and preferences often prevent me from finding motivation to draw certain types of characters. Most of the time I prefer knowing the character's personality too, which means I'd have to see the show or the game the character comes from first, if it's new to me. I believe my works describe my preferences pretty well, so they can be used as a guideline to what kind of characters I might be interested in drawing. Oh, and no overly popular shows please. Just the mention of things like Naruto, Fairy Tail or One Piece and you'll have lost my interest immediately. ;p Aside from that, I'm listening. :)

coredumperror

Interesting results indeed! With regards to comments, though, I do wonder why you don't post your work to your Patreon feed. I comment on pretty much everything that my patronized artists post to their feed, because it's convenient. Commenting on direct messages just doesn't feel the same. I guess because the opportunity doesn't clearly present itself? That might be because these direct messages are so long, the "reply" field is far below the fold.

Harmonist11

Yeah, I guess I keep avoiding the feed because I've convinced myself that direct messages are the best way to share stuff without fake subscribers gaining access to it. Which might even be true, but also makes commenting more difficult. Perhaps I should just try using the feed for a bit again. See how it goes. Out of curiosity, since I haven't followed other artists on Patreon lately, do they all post the images directly to the posts? Not as links, but images that display in the post? Back when I started on Patreon, if I recall correctly, the TOS explicitly stated that adult content must stay outside of Patreon, or similar. I keep wondering if maybe that is not regulated or something if artists can put that stuff in their feed without problems. O.o;
