I think Jinshi was doing several things with lihaku. He was testing if he could be bribed with something he really wanted. I also think jnshi knows how ,such Maomao cares for her sisters and if a bit of money makes her sister happy and in turn Maomao happy then that's a small price to him. As for the jealous look I think it was more the dude said Maomao drops her guard around him and made Jinshi jealous as a "no I'm closer to her then you" kinda thing.

Maomao's habit of speaking so roundabout comes from the fact she figures things out like always but she doesn't outright tell people the answers simply cause of their society, she doesn't speak off conjunction, because if anything goes wrong she could get easily blamed for speaking out in the first place, that's why she doesn't say Pairen likes him back but let's people draw their own conclusions

Maomao's upbringing I think has played a major role in how she conceives romance, she knows of the events that led to her mother's demise + her attempt to end her life as a baby. As Maomao said she has "no mother" and Lakan is "that man" so she has dulled the idea of love when it comes to herself. It doesn't help that she feels more comfortable being "undesirable" with her fake freckles and that she's aware of her standing in comparison to Jinshi. I think with a normal man of her standing she could entertain romantic pursuits but with Jinshi it feels even more unbelievable since he has the pick of any woman in the world. To her, she's the "most beautiful man in the nation plaything". Still dense tho ofc.
