Accidentally deleted my comment lmao. Was just saying how I can't wait for the development this season and how certain aspects are highlighted in the first bit where they stood up for hikigaya at the beginning. Also the artstyle and animation was a huge W on the show runner's part considering the more serious tone seasons 2 and 3 have.

Yes, exactly. I love watching these guys' reactions, but sometimes they really misunderstand some important things and never get clarification. Obviously, I can't say it's their fault because especially in this show most of the important tidbits are between the lines. So, even though I understand they're not going to catch everything, it still annoys me when it happens because I don't want it to affect how they view the characters or show.

This is easily my favorite season of the series. The change in animation style perfectly matches the change in tone. Some of my favorite moments in the series are coming this season along with my 2nd favorite anime moment period. Can't wait to see more of this with you guys! Also, loved how Roshi put Shira on the spot about his good qualities followed immediately with Hachiman pointing out that one of them is a huge negative. Great stuff lol.

I still can't believe that people were turned off and prefer the 1st season's art style back when this first aired. I remembered reading comments and discussions of people just hating on it. Blows my mind. Oh and good luck with this season, there's a LOT of "reading between the lines"

season 2 was made 3 years later, there some concern about hikki new design when the promotional info and art was released but they said it was to better suit it for the next part of the story thats going more in a drama direction. (Lot of folks feel that the new Hikki design removes something from his charater) with season 3 giving a ending to the series 5 years after season 2

lmao i always figured they didnt like it because so many weirdos self inserted themselves as Hiki and because he was drawn pretty ugly in the show it made them feel better. In season 2 he's drawn closer to his LN description which is moderately good looking.

it's probably because at that point they were still thinking that Oregairu was actually a romcom, not knowing that they had been horribly misled. The season 1 artstyle fits the more comedic aspects of the early episodes a lot better but it would be completely out of place once the show becomes more of a drama

nono, that athletic festival is 100% canon. who told you that it isn't? Well, it's a very truncated version of the canon (or rather, the canon is an extended version of the episode) but still. The season 2 OVA is also canon.
