Yah the magi series was a victim of when it came out along with anime not being as mainstream when it came out. I believe the original magi series came out while shows like naruto shippuden and hunter x hunter were rolling out episodes. So sales weren’t as high for magi and therefor not getting any new seasons. Also despite how good the show was adventures of sinbad was a colossal flop. So yah I believe that’s why both series were cut short.

Yep just google it out of curiosity and season 1 came out in October 7, 2012. I did a bit more digging and it was airing right beside JoJo Part 1, Psycho Pass, and SAO. It got overshadowed pretty easily.

This series mad old, I remember reading weekly back in high school lol. Real shame it got lost in the sea of shounen back then. This is still like, one of the only anime/manga to not have a japan/european inspired setting which really makes it feel unique.

Fun fact: the little girl is pisti, and the little boy spartos from previous eps are the one’s we see in Sinbad’s crew in Magi. Parsine also appears as a syndrian represenative in the episodes where alibaba confronts his brother although she’s just a NPC . Both the Queen, King Darius and the Imauchak Chief and their respective djinn equips appear in the last ep of Magi. I don’t think the manga will ever explore it so I don’t know if this is a spoiler? but if you check out the characters wiki many characters in this series are deceased which is why we never see them in Magi (the pink haired Princess, the 2 assassins, Hinahoho’s wife, Mystra’s, the wizard lady from the last dungeon ect. Many in the fandom speculate their deaths have something to do with Sinbad’s state of partial depravity. The episode in Magi we’re Sinbad was either discussing cursess, or when Sindriya was being invaded( I don’t remember which) you can notice the younger members seemed confused or oblivious to what was being discussed while the older members were drawn with stoic expressions and darkened eyes signifying something ominous in the past that the younger ones weren’t around for.

its worth the read but note the names of characters might be a bit different since the people who did the fan subs for the anime are not the same people who did the manga translations- additionally in some of the early chapters all the english translations that ive found cut out some pages, not sure if this happens anywhere else i think the manga completely blows the anime out of the water, while also being better than the main series, the big reason as to why it never got a bigger audience is definitely because it never got an english release of the anime or manga

In a way, Yunan is the magi who guided Sinbad, but he doesn't belong with anyone or anywhere. That is why he is called the wandering magi. In contrast we have Sheherazade that belongs in Reim, Judar that belongs in the empire and Aladdin which is "only" Alibaba's magi.

I apologize, I felt like it was a bit spoiler’ish but wasn’t sure because most of these things I read on Reddit discussions and Wikipedia not the source material. since most of these things never happened or are explained in the manga (and probably never will) I figured what the heck it’s just going to get lost to time. The source doesn’t go into detail about what, when, where or why? Just who. They’re plot holes that are left unanswered which is why it’s just speculation of the fandom.

yeah you guys should defiantly pick up the manga after this. lots of plot twist. to clear up a couple of things the little girl pisti is apart of Sinbad's crew. we dont actually see Mystras in the magi anime the guy we do see is his little brother spartos who we saw a couple episodes ago. also Yunan is not Sinbads magi hes called the wondering Magi because all he does is go around spawning dunjins he doesn't have ties to any nation like judal and Scheherazade

Yunan doesn’t have a King vessel, he guided only Sinbad, the first conqueror, hoping to be his Magi, but Yunan was terrified by Sinbad being too powerful and perfect to be the king. So he never became his Magi. Sinbad was literally TOO perfect which is crazy.

If you look at this Sinbad and who he becomes in Magi the question you need to ask is, is Sinbad a hero? His motives seem pure and genuine however unlike characters like Aladdin & Alibaba Sinbad is happy to use deception and manipulation to ensure his goals. What if someone says no to Sinbads goals, he’s now amassed enough riches, power and the world biggest gang that he can now force his ideals through whether through fear or battle but does that make him good or just another dictator.

Yunan isn’t Sinbad’s Magi. He favors Sinbad, but if he was Sinbad’s Magi he would reside in Sindria, just like Judar stays in Kou and Sheherezade stays in Reim and they raise dungeons exclusively for worthy members of that specific empire. Yunan just kind of goes with the flow and does what he feels like doing, but Sinbad has his interest. Idk if this has ever been confirmed, but I assume he was the one who raises the dungeons for all these randoms conquerors like the Imuchuk Chief, the Knight King and this Queen here. So he’s technically not affiliated with any singular King vessel
