kingBD

i know they said they will do more episodes of warrior so not sure if they do another poll just yet

Sughandi

The remix of the main theme playing while Joel tears through the hospital is perfect

The only reason there are so many run-ins with the infected in the game is because it's a game. You need gameplay. But the "action" has always been the least important thing in the series, followed by the infected. All of that is just the backdrop against which they use to tell truly human stories. Ask the creator of the game what the point of the game was. It was to tell a story. Your show should never be propped up by action. It shouldn't be a crutch. The point of The Last Of Us is THE LAST OF US. Us. Humans. The point was to tell stories about people living in this world. And they did that successfully. I hear what you're saying, but i politely disagree for the reasons stated above, not because i'm just blindly calling it a 10\10, but because the show didn't need any more "action" than what it had because that isn't what The Last Of Us is. Though i'm sure you'll get more of that in the second season when we are dealing with the hyperviolence that is so prevalent in the second game.

zachary orosco

Don't know if anyone said it yet but it's cool that the house in the first part is were ellie in the game and her girl friend end up cool touch

Smash Bran'Discootch

I will say though that i agree playing the game is the absolute best way to experience it.

Smash Bran'Discootch

That feeling when you post a comment, realize it's a rant, and make the active choice to NOT be "that guy" lol. This and Vox Machina are the only series that turn me into "that guy" super easy. I'm working on it guys haha

Eldiablo561

Best video game adaptation hands down. 10/10. Now time for me to try halo

Grimm

I hated when discussing this show to people and they kept using the word "unrealistic" ,they used that shit so many times. When I said they could've made Joel more capable of killing. Not for action but to show his character is a savage killer that can kill groups of people and clickers. Him killing a "army" at the end of the show when he couldn't even handle 1 guy in episode 4, that is more unrealistic then anything. But agree it's a 8/10 for me but the game was 10/10.

Omar Bautista

I cant believe we witness Shera use her Sheragon to kill Joel

Real Kest

You think they gonna cry like this for the my hero academia episode too (Cah I did ).

britt

i agree i wish they had shown how much of a threat the clickers and infected were. hopefully next season we get that

Dirty dan

Doctor thought he was the leader of the Port Mafia

Cleven Anthony

I absolutely agree I been saying for awhile they focused too much on drama ; it’s fine to hve it but an over focus of it in a zombie infested world is odd these last two episodes slapped tho

Pan Cakes

the die hard last of us fans are going to come after you for that comment. "this show is peak, and thats what last of us is about, you dont play the game for zombies 🤓."

Kevin

Agreed on giving the show an 8/10. Surprised you guys didn’t get caught up discussing whether you felt Joe’s decision was right or not. Sure the cure wouldn’t have solved the worlds problems, but it would have been a huge start in the right direction.

Kevin

Lol also full disclosure first(3 times) I played the game I let it sing in the operating room like a choir, but I do kinda wonder a bit more about what if Joel hadn’t saved her

Pan Cakes

I 100% agree with roshie, all these clowns with their "dude its a tv show, 🤓" or "you didnt actually play the game if you think its only about zombies 🤓". THE ZOMBIES WERE STILL A HUGE PART OF THE SHOW, THEYRETHE REASON EVERYTHING EVEN STARTED. This aint no k-drama bruh . they couldve done better like in the last few episodes and the episode with the bloater. but most of it was just human drama

reeb

you guys should watch outer banks and/or euphoria now that this is done!!

Daaylen Watson

I agree with a lot of your points but I feel like the budget would just be too insane if they were to add more infected fights like you were saying, Not cheap to even dress up 1 clicker let alone a ton, Still has a great time regardless.

John Cedar

Whether or not you think the doctor would have succeeded, Joel really made the show's title completely literal with the ending to this first part. These are officially the last humans, I think. We are watching humanity slowly going extinct now in this story, there is no long-term future anymore. The doctor being killed likely prevents any potential experimentation or cure through any means, ever. If you think Joel was justified or not, I don't think is the point. I think it was a cautionary tale about taking away someone's autonomy. You just can't be doing that, even if you think you're going to save the world. "The needs of the many" have historically been used as an excuse for some pretty awful shit. Marlene really, really fucked up. She didn't ask Ellie, she didn't ask Joel, she didn't let them say goodbye. And she didn't even think to ask how they now felt about each other after traveling for so long or what either of them would say, at all. Like with the sudden death of Henry, I think much of this could have been avoided if people had considered others at the most critical moment. Ellie did not consider that Henry needed to be able to say goodbye to Sam, Marlene did not consider Ellie's autonomy and that Joel and Ellie would want to say goodbye. Other people didn't even cross her mind because she was so caught up in the righteousness of her cause, which is incredibly dangerous.

Isaac

People keep wanting more infected but their wanting more infected becomes a pointless because despite wanting that, they loved the series anyway. So no, there didn't need to be more infected. The show did what it was set out to do for all of us and was clearly amazing as is so people really kinda need to drop that gripe since it didn't ruin anything.

Anna Anthony

8.0/10 overall. Honestly, just grateful we have a live adaptation when we don't feel like hooking up the console, and it's shorter. Nitpicky things aside, I wish the acting was 10% stronger, more infected/action in general would've been nice... a few character changes irked me. But I'm grateful we have this adaptation, and grateful to watch both the show and these reactions. #stiercontent

Mervyn Larrier

I just want to point out that the surgeon was bogus as hell. Brain biopsies have been used to investigate abnormal brain tissue since the '80s. There was no reason to kill and dissect her brain. Hell, nothing ever works the first time, so all he was doing was murdering Ellie. From that perspective alone Joel made the right choice because them killing her for an experiment would absolutely mean everything was for nothing. Her getting a chance to live a peaceful life in the commune (shh, ik) away from FEDRA and the Fireflies is all any kid really needs

Lamaree Jackson

Not like they need a cure anyway, ain’t no zombies anywhere cause apparently “they’re the least important part of the story.” I guess spores were taken out just to get rid of the infected aspect pretty much altogether. They didn’t show us the cordyceps communicating with that swarm in episode 2 to show us something cool. It was basically to show all the zombies are on leashes in buildings and shit and packed away for us never to see. They should’ve stayed with cold openings. Showed random people doing things to show the state of the world (someone hiding from raiders, fedra protecting the gates of a qz from zombies, stuff like that)

John Cedar

Yeah, I loved the cold opens of humanity's downfall. They were a great way to pull us in.

Yo Ku

i wonder if they could have waited Ellie to live out her life until old age before giving her life to make the antidote

Jr

Lupa crying before they even played the title screen has me dying bruh

Novafan

it feels like they spent all their budget on the horde scene and the few clickers. If they had just added an extra episode or two they could have slowed down the pace and added more action and details. They did a good enough job with 9 episodes but man I really hope season two isnt this rushed

EmoBurrito

The show could of benefited greatly with more episodes. The relationship aspect of Joel and Ellie didn't feel organic at all, would've loved way more interactions. Especially since the whole series almost entirely rides on their relationship. The dialogue and acting was good, the cinematography was fine, I'd probably give the show a 7/10. Started out great and fell severely short. On a side note, (SPOILERS for season 2), I have no idea how they're gonna do the action scenes moving forward. We didn't get to see "beast" Joel because they wanted to take the more drama, "realistic" approach. The next season would heavily depend on the action since its a revenge story. I'm guessing their gonna throw the "realism" part out the window, especially since the actor is going to stay the same. Idk how "realistic" its going to be to see a 5'1 female, that looks like a kid take out groups of men. Which is really disappointing because if the realism was going to be thrown out the window, then they shouldn't have deprived us of a more badass Joel like we saw this episode.

Leandro Da Silva

Imagine growing up and just showin your friends and family pointing to an infant on TV and going “THATS ME”

Senjioh

Its very symbolic the VA brought Ellie to life in the game years ago and she brought her to life in the series, a very nice way to show that without her there is no Ellie.

cmbbosh

Should had been 12 episodes imo. Show was def rushed and they spent all their budget on building all those houses. We didn’t even need crazy hordes of infected, but just give us situations with them involved would had made this show a 9-9.5 easily

VlSch

Why the f lupa was crying at the start?

KeYo

i agree with roshi ill give it an 8. i feel like they totally took out the fear of infected in this show. im fine with the story telling and the drama. they only did like 1 swarm and that was with the bloater. i feel like there should have been multiple swarms and bloaters in this show. im not asking for boss fights but give us more scenes where ellie and joel have struggle to get to where they going. it was like oh we fought 2 infected and the boop never again. a montage would have been fine tbh if done well. like roshi said they were connected through "wifi" lol but never went back to it. i know its not a horror show but its like this is still a world full of infected and dangers. why have q zones then? if the infected arent really a threat?

Vongola Fiamme

how does this show kill off majority of the characters through the infected but you feel the infected isn't a threat?

Vongola Fiamme

because watching a mother who just gave birth realize they wont see their child grow up is sad?

ogking31

Like u guys said at near the end about slow burner show. Vinland Saga is the one that defines what build up means and how each episode questions "what's next to this characters". The core of the series is about the infection which they didn't really explore that very well when it comes to the obstacle the two main characters have to go through.

cami ً

I agree with the 8/10 rating too! as someone who didn't play the game, I watched tlou as a stand alone show and very much enjoyed it, but I still felt like the balance between action and story was lacking a bit :/ I watched the interview the creators of the game and show did not long ago, and they said they got rid of most of the violence in the show bc they wanted it to mean something and evoke certain reactions and feelings, which I understand, but when it's done every single episode it starts feeling a bit repetitive and you end up missing that adrenaline,,, but overall I think it was a great show and I can't wait for s2!

Jonathan

lol Joel heard what was gonna happen to Ellie and immediately turned into Mando

Mad4Life

Damn we not even 10 mins in and Lupa already crying 💀

Magical Drinking

Phenomenal adaptation that blew the doors off my expectations. I'd give it a 9/10 but only because the finale felt weirdly rushed. Not sure if that's just cause I've played the game and the pacing of the final chapter of the game is so engrained in my mind. Still, that's a minor gripe. Everything about the show was incredible. The performances, the directing, the set design and special effects, all of it was incredible.

camille

Joel going up against the Port Mafia. This man didn't get hit ONCE.

TimTakDoh

9.5 out of 10 for me. The action complaint I’ve heard from some of the people who played the game is way too picky imo. This series was amazing. Last of us was never about the action. It was the story that made it and they did it beautifully. Bella and Pedro were perfect. Couldn’t have had a better Ellie/Joel

Jtrggrhappy

Love that they got Ellie’s voice actor from the game(ashley Johnson) to play her mother and the acting is chefs Kiss

Jason Yung

So severance is a great show if you guys like plot

Sheraya san

Roshi hates pushback for real 😭

Sun

So what’s after this? Tye and black lagoon ending this week too. Bocchi ending as well. We getting 4 polls or what?

Sheraya san

Shout out to vex being one of the nurses!

earthphoenix7068

Who would win? One Texan man vs a couple of anarchists with guns.

Ethan

"Ah so we have the only confirmed live sample of an immune person, an extremely rare specimen, what do we do? Keep her for observation? Take biopsies? Study her blood and confirm with other living doctors who may have experience with vaccines?" "Nah bro, just like kill her and take her brain and hope it goes well. I don't need a team of surgeons or working equipment, I'm pretty good by myself I gotchu" - A random firefly doctor No one else in that entire hospital questioned the logic on this one?

Ashton B

are yall gonna react to the Mandalorian? or are ya just ignoring pedro in that one?

Michael Pamon

To say that episode 3 had no impact on the story is a bit disingenuous I think. That letter Bill wrote to Joel most definitely had an impact on him opening up to Ellie more.

Reckless Company

I read that they not covering all of the 2nd game in season 2 they said its too much to cover in a season 2... so part 2 might be spread out between 3 or 4 seasons hopefully that happens so we can see alot more cool action

Jaelyn Mcgee

I'm curious if season two will give us those animal infected that the second game's concept art hinted at, since they'll hopefully have more time to split things up now

Eliana

Y’all gotta remember how Marlene left these two, Joel did not give af about Ellie in the beginning it was all a trade, he called her cargo 🤣 And hell nah they wasn’t gonna ask her, they finally “ found a cure” and it’s a human that is old enough to say no, they had to put her to sleep. But honestly Ellie might’ve been happy either way.

William Zavala

the best episode in this series was the last one. Overall decent version of the story, looking forward to what they do with the second season.

Franklin wasn't getting away with 35mil scott free

Stupid ending, same as the game. The choice between saving the world and some snarky kid should have more stakes to make the decision a bit more interesting. The world remains ruined but at least I have a daughter again? lol

Umbra_Nex

The choice wasn't between saving the world and some snarky kid. It was between "a possible cure" that is more a vaccine than cure that wont really fix much, especially in a world where there doesn't seem to be much real threat from the infected besides in old metro areas, and a kid he has come to see as an adoptive daughter. Additionally, there is no guarantee that the Fireflys would even distribute the "cure" even if it does work. There is a very real chance that they will use it as a tool to gain political power and overthrow Fedra in all the areas. Most parents would watch the world burn to protect their kids. At the same time, there is rationale and logic in sacrificing one person for what seems to be a real shot at a vaccine so people don't have to fear infection as much... but that doesnt make the world that much less deadly and crappy... infected may not infect then, but they will still kill the crap out of people. Especially since it seems like the infected MAY stop attacking you if they sense you are infected, but Ellie's mutation doesnt stop her being attacked... so just how many people would the cure even really save? TL;DR - I believe there are a lot of nuances to be discussed with this ending and the question of stakes and whether there is even a good shot at a true cure and stakes of "a loved one" vs "the greater good", which can create interesting debate on what one would choose in that same situation. You may not like how it ends, but the sides are not how you summed them up.

HIM

Bring on "Andor" reactions! Never head Roshi say he loves slow-burns before, but I GUARANTEE it blows this and show AND hotd out of the water. By a lot. That aside, this was a cool ride with some emotional highs. Definitely makes me wish I could play the game lol

Kermit

No extra infected or episode 10 because they blew their budget on the bloater and giraffe /ˢ

These Plums

I didn't really read Ellie's depression as being down about the end but about what just happened last episode. I mean almost getting "R" worded and eaten would put a damper on anyone.

Ramone Moore

10/10 season love that Joel Wick scene

WindShinobi590

I gave it an 8/10 too, for pretty much the same reasons Roshi gave. I loved everything that we got and I don't think I'd remove any of it from the show (maybe except for Bill dying), but I wish they had more episodes so that maybe they could've left in some of the action sequences they omitted, like getting the car and battery with Bill, the tunnels with Henry and Sam, defending the hydro power plant with Tommy, Joel fighting David's people and then Ellie fighting David's people. I also felt the same about the infected. As far as I can remember, we had 3 episodes with zero infected, 3 episodes with literally one or two infected, and then 3 that had a good amount of them. Like Roshi said, even though we know better, it felt like there were hardly any infected. I haven't played Part 2 yet, but if/when they do season 2, hopefully they get more episodes and budget to show more action/infected.

Trist9n

YES they did the Giraffe scene lets gooo ❤

Austin

Interesting how y'all mentioned the David episode 3 episode. As someone who's never played the game, I totally agree. Was very invested in that episode and liked that one by far compared to the rest of the series. I knew who those 2 characters were and how their relationship developed while compared to the rest of the series, Joel and Ellie's relationship felt super stagnant to me. Like a road trip and we just watch what the weekly thing was gonna happen and not really impact a whole lot to their relationship or the overarching story

Immoral Mortal

i would have like to seen joel find the doctors recording about "past cases".

Spriggz

Those Fireflies should have drugged Ellie and killed Joel as soon as they caught them. Savage, but would have cleared loose ends.

Daniel Robb

Would have saved millions of lives too. They did a great job of making Joel look like the bad guy cuz in the games I feel that didnt really get across well.

Daniel Robb

I petition YaBoyRoshi edit down and post his & Sheera's TLoU2 gameplay and commentary on here lolol. Im so lazy. Was it on youtube or twitch?

Seraph_Dalgon_

Kekkai Sensen or Durarara next up for trio? I'm them out there

Foxyguava

Look I know it's fucking stupid to save one person and sacrifice the whole of humanity... but realistically that doctor is fucking stupid. The doctor was going for an all or nothing approach on Ellie's surgery without a source for more chemical messengers if the surgery or study fails. Keep Ellie alive, take some blood, centrifuge that shit and study the blood. There are TONS of universities that would have at least a centrifuge to do that stupid ass shit. Keep studying the blood over time instead of studying it once and going "woops my bad can't test anymore cuz I killed the source" source: me studying science.. and anybody else here just studying, volunteering, or working a lab for just idk 5 seconds.

Phroug

Sheera you are kinda wrong about the end there. Whether they asked Ellie if she wanted to sacrifice herself or not, the end would have turned out the same. No matter what, Joel would have ended up killing everyone and saving their lives. Joel clearly already knew that Ellie would have wanted it to happen, that's why he didn't tell her about it. If he honestly thought she would have been against it he would have just told her exactly what happened.

Daniel NT

From what I remember from the game the surgery isn't a guaranteed thing. It's like have a slim chance it will work but only have one shot as donthsve others to work on. So saving her doesn't doom humanity as it probably wouldn't work anyway

Daniel NT

I'm glad they played the ending theme for the show. That hit so good in the game when she asks him and it starts playing

Blackbulls6

So was that Abby watching him from that one angle?

Joel Wilson

Pov Joel and Sarah would of turned into clickers if Joel didn’t forget the pancake mix in ep1 and the show would of ended in 15 min 😭😂😂😂

Amna Khan

29:55 Roshi felt that shoot from the leg.

KenthalasAT

The last of us may be the first of them. Ellie may not be able to be used to make a "cure" per se, but she might be the first of a new species that arises from us as a result of the extreme selection pressure we're being put under by a new environmental challenge. Speaking as a biologist.
