They accidentally got some good comedy out of it, but man the first almost 15 minutes of this episode were such garbage. We already know that the fungus is dangerous and scary, we don’t need some rando monologueing from a couch to remind us. Oh, so they started bombing cities? That was later established like 2 scenes later with 5 seconds of dialogue. I was on board with it the 1st ep, bc the concept of fungus zombies does warrant a little extra explanation. But I feel like now a precedent is being set where every episode is probably going to start with some overly long flashback to people we don’t care about addressing “lore” that would be better addressed by the characters we actually want to watch in a more naturalistic way.

Interesting fact at 21:30 when Ellie was talking about the mall and said she snuck by herself. In the part 1 game there is a side story about Ellie sneaking into the mall before she met Joel and Tess. I’m not gonna go into crazy detail in case they try and do flash backs about it.

Through the game there’s a whole bunch of collectibles(notes and audio) that let you feel how heavily impacted everyone else is and how people are coping. I feel like these little short intros are a great way to replace that for people who never played. Kinda hope we keep seeing them

The cancelation of Roshi and their screams when the Clicker popped off were amazing! Fire episode, they did better by Tess than in the game I feel. Always felt like FEDRA being there was random as fuck in the game being as they're so far from the QZ, also love the added lore of the fungal network. I hear the next episode is supposed to drastically change shit up from the games and I hear it's also supposedly one of the best episodes of the season so that has me pretty hyped. So far this series is 2 for 2 with me!

I actually think they did Tess's last stand way better in the show than in the game. I know, I know, but hear me out. In the game, it's Fedra that bursts in and Tess says she'll stay behind to hold them off. But then you go upstairs and walk past the part that overlooks the entrance and you just see her there dead but it didn't do any good because you still have to fight your way through Fedra to get out. In this, they gave Tess a real last stand and she went out like a g.

Yeah I saw the complaints about it online saying they did Tess dirty but she still got a great final stand. The tendril kiss was disgusting and I can see why people thought it was mad uncomfortable and maybe even exploitive but by taking spores out of the equation the show had to come up with something to show how the infection spread outside of biting and I guess this is what they came up with.

Well I was definitely loud and wrong about the Flour Theory last week. Still though, great world building. Just imagine, all the foods with flour and/or gains being contaminated how many people would have been clapped on Day 1. In the game it was coffee and chocolate I think. The mycelium network spreading all over is crazy too - just like some fungi in real like they have vast networks that cover thousands of miles. Waaay scarier than spores IMO.

In the first episode with Serah was in school, remember when that random student was shining their bracelet on her and y'all thought they were just messing with her? Looks like that student was showing signs of infection then and there and didn't realize it. So many people were infected and just didn't know at the time. Crazy.

The scene when they lose Tess was different in the game the game was that they didn’t want to give Ellie to the Fireflies and the fought and as soon as reinforcements came in she’s blew up the place sky high with the zombies n shit as Joel and Ellie left it went by fast in this bc it was halfway in the story getting to the meeting place and then the final part was he didn’t want to give her up at the hospital

You've never thrown a real grenade. In the movies they explode with a pretty fireball. In real life it's just a ton of shrapnel and concussive blast. Any ignition is instantly used to create the explosion. I mean, there is a chance it could light the fuel, but honestly you'd probably get one grenade going off and maybe kill a few of them lol, I'd rather take the lighter.
