The anime really made the scene where the students found Midnights dead body more heartbreaking. Like actually hearing them pleading to Midnights body and Mina shaking her hand…my heart. 😢😣💔 And I really appreciate that they added that scene with Tokage telling Yaoyorozu about Magestic. Tokage was also a work study student under him with with Yaoyorozu (it was shown last season and in the WHM movie). His death is going to upset her just as much and the anime gave me that in this episode. Also, the new OP and ED are elite! The OP is my new favorite OP (replacing Starmarker), while it’s TBD if the new ED will beat Shout Baby as my new favorite ED, even though I absolutely love it. Can't wait for y'all to see the intro!

Its fine as long as they eventually react to it. I thought they were just told to skip the entire first half so whoever let Roshi know to skip the recap just screwed everyone over in their chance of them reacting to the new opening. Most of the time they tend to be fine with the opening but Roshi is a manga reader and these 3 really are attached to the series since they been keeping up since the series first started.

To be fair, from watching a lot of reactors, they all have a memory of a goldfish cause people were literally going " oh I forgot that Bakugo got stabbed" and stuff like that. So while I hated it too, some reactors are just not good at paying aattention

I don't understand why people complain about a recap. At least it wasn't the entire episode. It isn't as if they need to coordinate how to fit everything they want to fit into each episode and leave off on the proper ending point of the season. They have a whole 25 episodes they need to work out. Normally you would just get two or three episodes of filler bullshit. This one at the very least help set the mood and show how everything fully took place one sequence after the other

Speaking of AOT, the destruction in this episode reminded me of the state of things in episode 1 of aot. Especially with the people being crushed by rocks. But in AOT, that kid would have been killed.

The recap was 7 minutes and 45 seconds, I counted, lmao. It was pretty concise to be covering 13 episodes. Also, tv is still the way most would watch MHA in Japan so with the New Years break last week, the animation studio and team obviously knew the airing schedule to be able to make that recap so short.

I know he read the manga. I been watching them since they first started up doing MHA reactions all the way back when season 3 was first starting to air. Roshi's reaction is in particular getting to see what they did with the material from the manga put into the opening itself. Of course sheera and lupa will have fully unexpected reactions to it unless they were already spoiled. Either way if they are waiting on the opening reaction until later on in the arc they will already see most of it in the episodes itself. So main thing is seeing the opening animations and song elevating those animations.

As much as recaps sucks to be having recaps it's sadly true people forget / misremember events A LOT. And it's either have the series itself remind you, which can be a waste of time. Or have people in the comments section ( if you're a reactor ) clapping you about details that leaked out of your ears.

Yeah people just really hate being recapped. A lot of anime just have a bad habit of this, especially MHA. Remember when at the first episode of every season ( except this one ) they had a filler episode and at the beginning it had to remind you of everyone's quirk every time with a stupid montage to waste a good 5 minutes? Why we need a recap of their powers? We know who these students are, we've been with them since the start. If people forgot their powers, so what. Get left behind then and clapped when people have to remind you ( not speaking to anyone in particular just saying ).

The only thing the intro spoils is the new "look" he's gonna have that's integral to Deku's character arc that's gonna be happening so it's best for anime-onlys not to see that "form" of him yet until he does it inshow. That look is sorta a big deal.

As a huge Gundam addict who was hyped af for Witch from Mercury... its alright. At the current point in the narrative its probably not gonna be looked back on in the same regard as IBO, Unicorn, or Zeta. Its more mid-tier like Seed or 00 (popular for spectacle rather than substance).
