Calida

I love how everyone refers to Kunigami as Ichigo because I straight up called this man Ichigo's son the entire time during my first watch through lol. The resemblance is too strong!

Mavereth

Jalani Abdul-Aziz

Back rewatching and it’s funny cuz at 17:14 chigiri said none of those names won a World Cup but now Messi is not on that list lol

$am

If I understood correctly, the top 2 teams go on to the next test while only the top scorers from the remaining 3 teams can advance. Feel free to correct me but I think that’s pretty much it

Geo Rockmann

You guys missed when they explained the system. Everyone in the top 2 teams advance. Plus the top scorers from the 3 losing teams. If they win 3 games their entire team advances. If they dont then only the top scorer of their team advances. Kinda funny you guys missed it because they actually explained it twice

Devin B

That's correct. Basically only 25 players from each group move on to the next round. 22 from the top 2 teams and 3 from the top scorer from each of the three losing teams.

Esteban Barahona

Pretty sure he did it cause that was the best option cause in that moment he understand where everyone was on the the fields.

TheFlamingPotato

I like how in the outro it pretty much shows the main four characters

Isagi freezes cause he thinks too much. At the beginning of the game and at the end he ran and stopped. Unlike Barou who charged through everyone with skill. Thats why they said he has no talent as a striker. But in the moment at the end his mind went blank and instinct took over and made the best play. So basically he needs to learn how to be a playmaker consciously.

armaan newaskar

Nah so basically the people who score the most goals in the 3 other losing teams get to move on, and no one else from those 3 teams.

zILovePelmeni _

you guys completely misunderstood what ego was saying. you dont have to be able to do everything. he said to find your weapon, for example dribbling or freekicks, and learn to use it to the full extend and become the best striker with it

cmike1204

So I think Ego’s saying that basically there needs to be a weapon to build a team around, as long as it results in a goal and breaks down the other team it doesn’t necessarily have to be just shooting the ball. Kira complimented Isagi’s “broad perspective”, and when he passed the ball, he used his best “weapon” in that scenario, giving it to the guy who he knew had the strongest leg for the long shot (when he got hit in the stomach). I think Isagi will see what each of his teammates best trait is, and his “weapon” will be bringing those out at the perfect time. Just a guess, sorry for the paragraph!

In my eyes Isagi is a playmaker not a scorer, like ashito

PotatoLover

Isagi did the correct decision given the situation, but an "optimal" striker wouldn't have found themselves in a situation where they're not the one scoring according to Ego

DevilMayCarter

Really like this idea of optimization "from zero" Ego is looking for a player that can take over a game single-handedly but can galvanize the rest of the team through his play. People say Jordan was the greatest because he bring the maximum out of his teammates while still being the focal point.

QuitaMa

He did the right thing, what you saw was his mind literally showed him the full field. Because if this he automatically made the right move. Something similar happens in this show Aoashi which also about soccer

andrew calahan

"What in the five inch sub..." 😂😂😂

Matrim Hall

I think it meant that the top scorer of every team had immunity, even if their team didn't make the cut

Devin B

I can see why you say that. Even if they both want to score all the goals they don't have the skill set to do it by themselves. They're more suited to facilitating the field.

SilentGreen

I'm pretty sure the way it works is that in each block there is 5 teams. Only the top 2 teams get to progress onto the next selection with there whole entire team. But for the 3 lowest teams only the top scorer from each of those teams gets to move on. That's why everyone is playing selfishly, because just incase their team loses they want to be the top scorer so that they can still move onto the next selection. (I did not read the manga so correct me if im wrong)

Devin B

What Isagi did was good in the long run cause he now has Kunigami (Ichigo) to use as a potential option when they play the next game. Isagi has a good view of the field and he probably instinctively knew he wasn't getting past Barou so he just went with the most optimal option which was Kunigami. The only problem is he doesn't want to resort to doing that cause he wants to be the one to score.

ShaquanVirse

I hated being Goalie in middle school - the first game I was goalie got scored on 8 times last I blocked over 2x that

Hasnain Khan

Yehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Bosastar

I think his monster told him to pass it

Himothy

Bro I've seen this top striker rule clap multiple reactors at this point all it takes is a small misinterpretation to confuse urself for the whole episode lmao

Ranginald Vagel

Oh my god watching them miss the rules is painful

Zion Williams

Its crazy how he says sucker cus in the manga he stright up calls everyone retarded

Freeofgreed

Yeah I laughed when they were confused after the first explanation then missed it again when they explained it the second time lol.

wavyesper

lupa got me dying with the intro XD idk why roshi doesn't expect them to be obnoxious everytime xd

Unbeknownst Man

What I believe is that Isagi's mind (his monster) wants to win no matter what, so he chooses whichever path takes him to score and, eventually, win. So him passing to "Ichigo" wasn't out of fear, but as the best course of action to get the goal, just like Barou did in some of Team X's goals. For the best striker, it's not necessarily the one that scores the most themselves, but the ones that end up generating the most goals for their team, whether by themselves or with last-second assists. My 2 cents!

Sam017

In regards to what other people said about how the top two teams moving on with only the top scorers from the other 3 progressing (for a total of 25 players per block), that’s why Team X started working together earlier, they realized that Barou being a strong player gave them a chance of winning outright, meaning the whole team could advance. Team Z didn’t have much hope of winning after falling behind, which led to everyone trying to secure themselves as the top scorer

Corey Leach

I been wondering how this man been watching and controlling dozens or hundreds of screens by himself but his name is Ego so it makes sense he doesn't want help from anybody lol

Hertog

Is that the voice of Inoske that I hear?

Darrell Jones

The way I think about it is Wayne Gretzky 894 goals, 1,963 assists. He controlled the game. When they scored it was normally because of him.

Bdodson09 .

Ego gives off huge midousuzi (Yowamushi pedal) vibes.

Graylonknight

So basically, if they lose, then only the person who scored matters, so Raichi is mad because that goal doesn't help any of them, but Kunigami since it was clear they had already lost the game.

Percival

I agree. I felt like the reason why Isagi instinctively thought that "Ichigo" will make the shot from that range is because Isagi got powershotted in the stomach by him in the first test so his body learned firsthand of their capabilities

Ranginald Vagel

Ego be like, "I want someone where that man having the ball within 25 meters of the net is equivalent to scoring."

Sun

Yes, it Matsuoka, the Harem King of VAs

Ghost_Troupe

This show feels a lot like actual try outs for a sports team lol. You never really know what the coaches want, they make you do seemingly nonsensical things all to compete for the one position that you want to play. It's dope as hell.

Adam Kingsley

barou looks like adult gon from hunter x hunter to me

Devin B

Raichi is mostly mad because he was in a position to score but Isagi passed to Kunigami instead. Right now Kunigami has the advantage cause if they lose the next game they're basically out and he moves on.

armaan newaskar

That’s a very valid opinion, but I have to disagree. The point of a striker is to score goals. While he made the most rational decision in that moment, he didn’t utilize or grasp in a way which best benefited himself as a striker. Strikers exists solely to score goals, and the philosophy of BL is to score ones own goals for oneself. So basically, he wasn’t entirely wrong in his choice to pass to “Ichigo”, but even tho that was a practical choice, it wasn’t the choice of a true striker, which is what he’s trying to grasp.

HIM

This show is great, it really feels like it might end up a lot closer to Eyeshield 21 than I initially expected. One thing that was great about that show was the fact everyone was nasty from the beginning. Sure, they had things to overcome in order to grow to be better, but they all had insane talent from the jump. We haven't seen much more than the monsters and ichigo's rocket leg, BUT I believe Isagi's real calling might be a glue guy, a guy that can create openings for his teammates to shine (Kinda like Kurorko). I do side with the idea Isagi made an instinctive play that was more about his innate awareness, more than his fear of trying to score. We actually haven't seen him shoot yet, so who knows what his skill level is. Either way, high hopes for what looks like at least a 100-episode journey. I'm thinking they win every other game to advance, while Barou might end up being the only one from his team to move forward. Eyeshield had a lot of tough opponents that recurred and a lot of tough losses, which is why I'm thinking this might play out more of the same.

Kisuke01

After watching another soccer Anime and understanding the rules, positions, and plays. I kind of understand where long ass neck was going for like they're all forwards but are they gonna tell us that all they know how to do is dribble and try to score no. They have to have some idea about how being a defender or midfielder works like skill wise they probably all have nice power shots and what not but King Barou his dribble skills were nasty and Ichigo had that strong ass power shot that his entire team was doubting.

Drake Rage

The Tall dude "Barou" on the enemy team has Aomine's voice (Kuroko no Basuke), so fricken cool!

Sergio

As someone who's played soccer (football) his whole life this match is actually realistic. Like y'all have no idea how many times this has happened to my team in the past where we would argue every time. Everyone wants to score even though most of these players won't score. So far the moves have been really well done ik it's cg but I think that's the only way they can make it look good so props to them. also irl Japan is getting ready for the World Cup (starts next month. it's usually every 4 yrs in the summer but for some reason it's in the fall/winter) which might affect not only this anime but maybe other animes as well since last year a lot of animes postponed their episodes because of the Olympics in Japan so we'll see.

Drake Rage

Sheera read the description of the episode in the ending discussion too, which explained that the top 2 teams advance, but right after that Roshi says he is still confused if each player has to score once to advance. They thought only top 3 scorers advance, but its: Top 3 scorers from the 3 losing teams + ALL players in top 2 teams advance. So they got the information 3 times, and still got confused, this is mad hilarious, lmao.

Kerry Gipson

Lovin the show so far!! please add aoi ashi to the list next

Gnarly 34

I literally thought tht guy was David from cyberpunk edgerunners

Gnarly 34

And I’m pretty sure we can all find the look alikes for these characters 💀

Itanna

Btw the guy you're calling bakugou is actually Inosuke's voice actor

Yolo Samurai

Roshi: BANKAI!! Me: Nigga, I'm DEAD! 💀

Spriggz

"He's standing in front of a green screen in his office?", aren't ya'll literally sitting in front of a green screen too? Lol, nothing odd about it I'd say

When Isagi passed but he didn't mean to i thought it was an indication that the monster in him had taken control

Devin B

@Leon Giant Killing, Area no Kishi, Days, Ginga Kickoff, Captain Tsubasa 2018 and Ao Ashi are all the soccer anime I watched before watching this and watching all of them gave me a better understanding of the game from different perspectives. Like @Adamantite Momon said Giant Killing gives you a look behind the scenes of what goes into running a soccer club so that's definitely a good recommendation.

Earphone Jack

Yo....they really got Bakugou and Ichigo on this show and I think it's hilarious.

Steven H.

yay another annoying bakugou character

Jake Rosendahl

They all have 4 games left to be top scorer though, sure he got 1 point in the first game, but there's more opportunities.

by chances

many of his teammates are annoying as hell 😭
