None of his family is cut out for the life Thomas leads, it makes no sense to get mad at Polly when they have shown they don't particularly like this side of the business. While they embrace it at certain times, season 3 really hammers home that they are all collectively tired of it. Whether it be Polly feeling remorse at the death of a holy man, to Arthur having to still doing the dirty work despite having been save, or John who feels like a Toy solider. They all have fault in the situations, but ultimately... they are gangsters, no strategists. The only person in the family with the same level of knowledge and ambition is Michael. Polly knows where this will lead and is trying to stop him from being there. It's unfortunate that it is a wasted effort but then if it worked, we wouldn't have S5 or S6. Plus its not like "getting rid of" Polly would even work. Realistically if every family member left the gang Tommy would be fucked.
