Yeah, incest or strong weird bond between brother and sister are there a lot in animes. There is actually a word in Japanese for that, something that means "Sis lover" or "Bro lover" (sorry, I forgot the exact word in Japanese). It's the same kind of trope as Lolicon and its opposite with grown man portrayed as little boys (again, I forgot the exact Japanese word).

The 'i wanna marry my sibling when i get older' trope is a bit trope in anime media since i think the 80s?? Honestly this could have been way worse where they pull a 'im in love with my sister and i wanna date her' but luckily in this case, it doesnt seem that way. It sure feels like it is but i think hes more obsessed with her more than being in love with her. (unless they do the hes too stupid to know hes in love and i hope to god it dont go that way) In his case, shes his only family so hes over protective of her and her well being. Especially since he was the one to encourage her to get married in the first place. All in all, Yuri is a very mild case of the 'i wuv my big sibling a bunch' compared to the full on incest 'they wanna fuck onee/onii chan'

yes it's weird but there have been worse in other animes, Yuri doesn't want to marry yor anymore (he was just a little kid when he said that), his sister is the only person that was there for him, and that's the only one that he has got, so he wants to protect her and keep her close. He doesn't trust any other man besides himself being close to his sister.

SisCon or BroCon is a thing (con is short for complex; he has a sister complex). It's a weird trope or sometimes fetish that stems from what likely started or starts as a childish affection and dependency for a sibling. I've watched enough Japanese tv over the past decade to know it usually starts out innocent enough but the entertainment industry has twisted it into some of what you see. I also wouldn't be surprised if some actual experiences and emotions from creators crept their way into movies/tv dramas/anime/manga/etc.

Yeah even though you would think Yuri's job would conflict with Yor's they still work for the same country. Loid is the only one that's technically in a dangerous position here. Though it sounds like the secret police think Twilight want to break the peace, but his mission is actually to get into contact with that dude to make sure the peace holds up.

Pretty much, especially when you look at the story and all the details Loid is from Westalis and their top Spies conducting covert ops in their enemies country Ostania (where the whole series takes place) Yor and Yuri are from Ostania, Yuri works for their secret police and Yor is an assassin who kills traitors to Ostania. They are as opposite as you can get and confrontation is inevitable, it's just down to if Loid can survive it when it comes as lets be real we know who will win if it comes down to CQC

Original topic commentator has it right. Yor and Yuri are totally on their own country ideologies right or wrong, but that is how they were raised. We were given proof already that Yor has done assassination jobs already from teenage years, so she is very command brainwashed why she is very aggressive drunk and can accidentally kill somebody. Loid already told her you don't get any alcohol as that castle scene taught him how dangerous drunken Yor is. Now all this said, Yor might really fall in love as this is anime romance comedy story for Loid and through that we will get resolution for her, and Yuri has already proven be totally blind to everything her sister is like god telling him a command. Anya will play a big part when we finally get these confusing truths slowly out. I am really hoping we will get real fight between Loid and Yor as in the end they are equally as good at killing each other will be exciting episode if this happens.
