Sayyongtou

yea but it's not until ep 7 where the show got me hooked. it's way easier to understand things when u r invested in the show. the first 5 or 6 ep was a big question mark to me.

Gregery stunt double

bro i just realized the foreshadowing at 19:38 thats actually crazy

Cosmonaut

I am here early this time. :) please don’t get discouraged from people being toxic about this sub and dub nonsenses. <3

LorJaren

Yea

protein

Y'all hang in there. This show takes a few episodes to get going, but I think it's a masterpiece by the end. This is the kind of show that you guys are gonna appreciate a lot once it's over.

Maroki R6

It’s really confusing and probably boring, but hang through it guys it’s deadass a masterpiece and one of the best anime ever, just the first few eps discourage many people who have a 3 episode rule

Jake White

Nah Roshi lol that “No change?” scene from Okabe was just a goofy way of short handing what he explained out right after, which was basically ‘simple things make big changes. Who’d have guessed that hooking a cell phone up to a microwave would make a time machine?’ Lol So the scene was basically just Okabe jokingly implying that he was expecting the laundry machine to produce a similarly interesting result lol

Babyjuuga

they do have a cat island in japan lupa is right

Team Skull Grunt B

I mean, sounds to me like they're enjoying it just fine lol. The first episodes are not as bad as people make it out to be

Team Skull Grunt B

What part of this makes it seem like they're not enjoying it? Y'all hate on the first episodes for no reason, this stuff is still interesting

armaan newaskar

As Lupa pointed out in the intro they do a lot of subtle cultural and technological references in this show, which reminds me that beyond its awesome characters, themes, and plot…it also feels in some ways like a massive ode to ‘geeky’ culture which I really appreciate and love.

Cosmonaut

So by the way this episode was going it all starts with the buildup and development and the subtle details some of the character give off throughout the episode which does convey a deeper message to the overall story but thats for you guys to try and pick out without giving too much away. Now that the group has obtained an IBN they can finally start cracking down on whatever shenanigans they were going through with the microwave. The pay off will be worth it.

NecDW4

Ah yes, bunny island, where absolutely positively nothing bad ever happened ever. LOL

Chinese Cartoons

The G-Back thing is just Okarin doing a stupid pun lol He first spells it out "Gee Bee Aye See Kay" and then says it's his secret G-BACK plan. After he loses the board game Feyris says he basically just ran forward and blew himself up in game and she didn't know what his strategy was. Mayushi puts 2 and 2 together in that Jibaku (自爆) literally means self-destruct. Jibaku = G-Back(u) because of the Japanese pronunciation. So he basically said at the start his secret plan is just to kill himself and lose the game ASAP.

Dj Josol

Actually Lupa's right there is a cat island. Rachel and Jun have a video of it on youtube. Look it up it's pretty dope.

Dj Josol

Yeah Okabe and his lab members are full on Otaku's Houin Kyouma is his mad scientist ego, but you will see even in these early episodes where his ego drops and you see the real Okabe. Then, shortly he goes back to Kyouma because the real Okabe isn't confident enough.

Jose silva

Awesome reactions guys wish it was more than 2 episodes a week lol

Infinity

Roshi is th eonly smart one so far with this show he keeps his mouth shut while the other 2 are clapping themselves silly left and right.

slipHAZARD

dude are you kidding me? Last episode Lupa barely said 3 words the entire reaction.

Maroki R6

I’m not saying that they aren’t enjoying it, I’m just saying that the first few eps are pure world development

MochanAmazing

@slipHAZARD Lupa was only there for the intro lmao, really liked Lupa processing and digesting info the entire reaction

Jason

It could happen ,but it would be very rare and they would have to be very invested in the story for it to happen.

Sebastian Stróż

Right, because trying to figure out the mystery in mystery anime is stupid... One time people complain about Lupa not talking just to say he is clapping himself under next episode. Fuck. Me.

Kevin

Do they know SERN is the anime counterpart to our CERN? I am asking because often news from europe doesnt reach America. Many other didnt know of the existence of CERN, and therefor the LHC

Victor

they are free to give their comments/ guesses. the show is supposed to be confusing at first, and not everyone can get it during their first watch. let’s be honest, we had all kinds of theory in our heads during the first watch, just that we didn’t vocalize that because we watched alone or we felt like something still missing, so stop talking like they are stupid and you are the smartest one here.

Team Skull Grunt B

Last episode people were tripping because lupa didn't say anything, this episode people are mad he was talking. The man can't win

Room

Yeah if you really want to understand what’s happening in this show. You got no time to talk or mess around while they overload you with important info.

Arc

Lupa is right. Japan does have a cat island, it's in Fukuoka and it's called Ainoshima Island.

Random Guy

G-BACK. Jibaku means to self-destruct. It's a pun. A pun that would be lost in translation when you watch it in dub.

Random Guy

its weird that an island called "Island of love" would have lots of cats. Cats aren't really the first animals you think of when you say love.

Team Skull Grunt B

That's hardly relevant. The dub instead has okabae call his plan "kboom" and feris compares his strategy to that of a suicide bomber. Therefore the original meaning of self destruct remains the same and it makes sense to those who don't know Japanese

Random Guy

KBOOM sounds a lot more literal than G-BACK. It doesn't really have the same feel to it.

Peacefinder Simply

@Random Guy, depends on how you were raised, personally i think of cats before dogs simply because i've always had cats and love them while dogs only had when i was a little kid

William

I'd never heard of this before, but I had heard of Tashirojima off the Miyagi prefecture, and I guess Japan simply has multiple cat islands. Rest of the world gotta step up our game.

Mari

I don’t think they we’re trippin, they just was pointing out that lupa didn’t say a single thing because he probably doesn’t enjoy watching the show, not saying he doesn’t, just saying that’s probably what they we’re thinking

Drake Rage

He spells out G-Back in English and pronouncing G-Back by a Japanese person would turn the word into the Japanese word Jibaku, which literally means "To Self-Destruct." Kboom sounds really lame, tbh. Just attached a K to boom, with the word boom usually used in comic books to depict "explosion"? Should have atleast made it to be K-A-B-O-O-M, which would be an explosion without having a useless letter K in kboom, lol. It just takes away at least 1 layer of depth from the scene done in Sub.

None None

I remember the cat island from when one of the Azumanga Diaoh girls met a native breed of cat and started illegally keeping it as a pet.

Koji

lol im glad they're watching this version to hear the "kuristtttinaaaaaaa" xD

john

they still lost it tho and probably most of the viewers too. so it doesnt really matter

Anonymous

Just realized Okabe's voice actor is the same guy who did Pandora's Actor in Overlord lmao

RavinFox .

It's kinda wild how many different islands they have. I know I don't have to list some of these since you know Rachel & Jun or might just know in general, but for sake of everyone else here: They have Cat, Rabbit, Dolphin, Sheep, Monkey, Deer, and Horse Islands. Almost like some kind unique Chinese zodiac arrangement if you exclude 2 of the animals. Anyway, they total in 10 because Cat has 3 islands while the Dolphin as 2. Cat, Rabbit, Monkey, and Deer are the ones with most animals roaming around like crazy, while the last few are more something you'll see because of the landscape or attractions.

Didier

"Jibaku" means self-explosion/suicide-bombing lmao.

Didier

I'm afraid most Americans are completely ignorant about anything that exists outside of America. Next time you meet American people, ask them to show you France or Russia on a map and observe their reaction.

Michael

Suzuha is a soldier

Don Keedick

Lupa is right, they do have an island with cats. I think they also have park with foxes if I'm not mistaken.

Jake Rosendahl

BASIC is a real programming language, a very early one.
