This is not a spoiler. It was simply not explained properly in the anime. Remember last season when Ainz went to fight Shalltear she was already wearing her armor and holding the Pipet Lance that restores health when inflicts damage with it? Remember she was standing inside a circle on the ground? There was no grass on it. The reason is: Between she getting brainwashed, and Ainz showing up to fight her, The dragon showed up, wearing the armor, to fight and test Shalltears' power. If I remember correctly, the dragon wanted to see if she was a dangerous creature that would cause great danger to the world. He obviously got more than he bargained for. He not only found out she was a powerful foe, he also got damaged on the shoulder with the Pipet Lance to the point that it dented or made a hole in his armor. Then he fled, and that's when Ainz showed up to fight Shalltear. She was already suited up and with Max health. She didn't lose any health because at the end she injured the dragon and got her health back from the attack, the red power beam shown in this episode, the dragon shot at her. On another note, I don't remember if they already mentioned this previously. Remember that right before Ainz used his last attack, against Shalltear, he kind of hesitated for a bit while breaking the tiny hourglass sand clock, the gacha shop item, and for a couple of frames you could see an eye staring at Shalltear? Remember this caused her to stop for a second to look behind her, allowing Ainz to completely break the gacha item and activate his last spell? Well, the eye was Aura. The little dark elf wearing male clothes. He used a fear attack to stop Shalltear for a fraction of a second aiding Ainz in the process. This is confirmed at the end by Shalltear while she is disintegrating into light. She said: "You little..." while smiling and with her eyes closed. I mention this because I remember Roshi being confused as to what was the eye. They also speculated that the eye was from the people that brainwashed Shalltear. Now you know the answer. A final note, I swear. Last season the anime mentioned that Shalltear's creator and Aura and Mare's creator were siblings in real life. That is the reason why Aura and Shalltear had that kind of relationship. A similar relationship to that of Bukubukuchagama and Peroroncino. Now you know why Aura distracted Shalltear.

that little flashback showed that the dragon(who can control the armor), attacked shalltear before ainz got there but he wasnt able to beat her which is why shalltear was still there, also the black and white hair girl is from the same country that attacked Ainz in season 1 with those angels

I am confused, didn't the dragon dude (previously a humanoid wearing that silver armor?) said to the old lady that he has been apologizing about becoming a dragon for the last 200 years? Which meant that he fought the vampire chick when he was still in human form back then. Which to me meant they fought in either the game, or the people from the Yggdrasil all came at the same time and something happened that made the NPCs and Overlord forget about it. Wild guess*

*Edit* OK, the subs in the episode are wildly misleading, dragon wasnt a player himself, he just knew them from a long time ago, though its easy to make that assumption the way it plays out in that scene. Dragon WAS remotely controlling the armor in the fight against Shaltear, which was where the damage in the armor came from. Source: double checked the LNs and Wiki to be sure.

I came to the conclusion thinking it was just him remembering a time when (as a presumed player) he'd tried going into Nazrick, and figured the anime wasnt too concerned about what was goin on in the background.

Yeah, a lot happen, but there a shit ton more in the light novel lol. So quick run down. As I got work tonight so can't go into more detail unless people would like it. - Dragon is probably one of the strongest in the 'new world'. He isn't from the game, but he knows a good bit about it since items, spells, and players came from it. - The Dragon join up with a bunch of adventures while he was younger. Though he never told any of them he was a dragon at first. As he use a spell and the armor you all seen. - Dragon felt Shalltear presence I believe (or something happen to get him to check out the vampire) And when he attack, Shalltear reacted. He got his ass kicked and retreated as he didn't want the smoke. And I think that's mostly it. OH! Roshi theory about players getting sent in different times is something I have and others have as well. It's a least speculated by some of the problems/heroes that showed up throughout time that could have been players.

The fight between Shalltear and the Dragon happened when Ains was already sent there. I believe it took place in the episodes after Shalltear and her vampires went into the cave to kill the bandits. She was placed in an incomplete mindcontrol and the dragon unfortunately ran into her in her controlled state which caused a battle.

The vision of the fight between Dragon and Shalltear is the aftershock of 100 years ago not 100 years ago. Whatever that means, so presumably they thought it happened due to events of 100 years prior.

That is correct. they make many inferences towards "great beings" throughout season 2 and 3, all of which are different groups of players throughout the world's history. Some decided to be great heroes, some were malevolent, Ainz being undead with no empathy is trying to rule the world. I think the light novel heavily implies hes also the most powerful player to have appeared thus far

I'd like to elaborate more why I think s2 makes him more of a villain but that would put spoilers, but ill try to make it as simple as possible. In season 3 most of the people he claps are not innocent, and there is a justifiable reason why he does it. In season 2, these lizardmen literally did nothing wrong, they are just minding their own business when Ainz starts barging in on them.

Though against a guardian? I kind of doubt it. Only because I don't think she can use high-tier magic as they can. That and skills the guardian uses. So IMHO, she will get wrecked.

SPOILER so you all have been warned. She is a god-kin, same for the leader of the black sculpture, who was present during the brainwashing of Shalltear. Shalltear even said, "that one is strong". Her power level? Nobody really knows, but she will fight Mare in Volume 16 (probably season 5). I did not read the whole fight yet, but Mare is playing with her. Nothing out of ordinary, since Mare is a beast and considered the second strongest guardian after Shalltear.
