The next series is "Nekomonogatari Black", not "Nekomonogatari". Yeah, it's fucking weird that they named two different stories "Nekomonogatari". If you're taking a break, do it between Nekomonogatari Black and Nekomonogatari White, as strange as it sounds. I'd love to explain why, but it's difficult without spoiling the hell out of second season. Neko Black is kind of the last loose end of the early stories, while Neko White is the start of the newer stories. You'll understand immediately when you see what Neko White is.
