Koro's tentacle cells reflect his emotions, thats why Aguri told him in the perverted scene that his tentacles might reflect who he truly is. When he broke out he was basically going to be a killing machine, thats why he looked so badass. but when Aguri died in his arms he probably remembered her words: "Had you been born into a more peaceful world, you'd have been smart, but slightly perverted, a tad goofy, petty, headstrong and able to pull off a genuinely kind smile". Because after the tentacles asked Koro what he wanted to be he turned into the person she envisioned him to be if he was peaceful.

I think it makes sense his students took out reaper easy. They all were students of his but after he was betrayed by current reaper he became better at teaching so it makes sense to me at least. Unless I'm misunderstanding something.

The tentacles reflect what the host desires. Itona said he wanted to be strong. Kayano said she wanted to. be an assassin. Koro said he wanted to be weak, to be imperfect and thus to be able to grow alongside his students and see them grow as well, he wanted to be able to empathize, to truly see people, so he took that form and that's why he's so much more goofy. Yes he's probably weaker then the form he took while escaping, but he's also more approachable and that's what he cared about the most.

2022-03-10 12:19:08 One other note that I found interesting from the Anime/Manga is in the Manga it showed him reaching out from where he buried himself to grab Ramie plants to make thread & charcoal to dye the thread and knit it into his outfit. It also showed him holding some insects to gauge how gentle his new form could be.
