So, about the comment on the last EP. Arararagi's "gaslighting" is more him telling the story in a way that makes him look cooler than he actually is, so the "swag" Sheera is seeing is him telling the story to MAKE him look cool. Also all the weird shit in the houses, like them living in a huge art installation, or the 10 locks on the front door and keypad on the bedroom door are more "impressions" and not whats ACTUALLY there. Just like Kanbaru having 10000 books. You'll see it even more later on, and one VERY specific example of him framing things in a way that make him look good in teh last episode.

This is a perfect anime for a rewatch btw. There is A FUCKTON of foreshadowing in every episode that you just cant see unless you watch later episodes. Also about how the story is told, at the end of Kizu Araragi says he will tell us the story and here it is :) Look out for a moments that are not narrated by him and you will notice how different everything is. //EDIT oh and for sexual content and scenes, they are actually important and you should consider that we see things from araragis point of view so look at his reactions to certain things and you may actually have different option about whats going on sometimes.

Yeah, Nisemonogatari is kind of one long prologue to Second Series. A LOT of the random conversations in the first two episodes have nothing to do with the rest of Nise, but get a major payoff in Second Series.

Like, by a huge margin (80,000 sales per volume, while the next highest was fucking Gundam SEED from 2004 at 70,000). It was so stupidly popular that SHAFT instantly greenlit anime for the next 16 books in the series. Nisemonogatari sold 60,000 copies per volume, making it the highest selling anime of 2012 and like the fifth highest ever at the time. Like, you'd expect this series to have been some weird cult following anime, but it was fucking massive. Absolutely nobody predicted the franchise would explode like it did.

When people realize that all the fan service and random things that happen in the show are just distraction in between the more important story moments the more you will understand and enjoy the series.

The fan service isn't necessarily meant to be a distraction. The entire show is shown from Araragi's perspective. The empty world populated with only girls, the fan service, the close ups, the random cuts, it's portraying Araragi's view both literally and how he thinks. Araragi is essentially a degenerate with a hero complex lol
