As the last 2 episodes of 86 cour 2 are being released in March this year, you guys should probably watch one episode a week instead of two, that way you would be caught up right when the last 2 episodes air (instead of catching up and waiting another 6 weeks).

Never thought about why Cyclops is blind in one eye, that's actually a super interesting thought. Might give more reasons to why the handlers are largely told to stay hands off, those who did care enough to try to be better handlers probably fucked themselves or their processors up

Here is an explanation for those who are still confused on how the 86 survived exactly since the show went with a more symbolic route instead of flat out showing it. Rei was the one who ultimately rescued them from the battle in episode 11. The Legion know how valuable shepherd’s can be so they usually have a back up unit that can transfer the brain copy too. But the transfer for Rei wasn’t very successful and the new Dinosauria unit that he was transferred to was also damaged I believe and was able to have more control over his actions and started to follow them as they went. During the battle in episode 11, when it looks like the Legion are going to take Shin’s head, it shows a lone Legion Dinasuaria unit, this is Rei. When it goes back and only shows Shin’s feet, the area lights up from a round firing and the Juggernaut piece with Rei’s name on it flashes on the screen, symbolizing how it was Rei who fired the shot. In this episode it shows Rei carrying Shin. This is actually happening. Rei is carrying all of the 86 in his liquidmachine arms until they came across a Federacy patrol which in turn destroyed Rei. Rei mentions how this is as far as he can take them and during their conversation you can see he damaged unit in the background. The federacy also mentions how they rescued them from a dinosuaria unit in this episode and shows the destroyed unit again. And one thing that I also noticed while watching it this time in episode 11 when the kid Shin and Rei are taking, Shin’s shadow is red and Rei’s shadow is blue. Red usually represents the 86 and blue represents the Legion. So it was indicating that Shin was still and 86 while his brother was part of the Legion. And sorry some of the exact details might be a little off, but that is what I remember from the LN and the things I noticed from the show on how they portrayed it.

Lupa's theory is cool but wrong. You guys may have forgotten but at no point was it ever said that the republic was the only country fighting the legion. Shin has mentioned the Giad empire (aka the "Federacy") before in a previous episode. The legion aren't just fighting the Republic. There are multiple civilizations out there. anime that has war themes, it's no wonder you'd compare it to aot but the series are very different so i wouldnt compare it too much

I'm not used to everything working out with no last minute depression from this show. What's going on here? This is suspicious. Entire first season was basically a depressing/tragic spiral with situation continually getting worse throughout. Now show tryna make me happy? Nah cuz what kinda super depression bouta come that they let me feel good for once

Sheera, the Alba don’t know the legion take heads, they think they’re machines with a time span of two years left. Also they never said there isn’t any other countries out there but it’s hard to care and worry about that when you’re fighting for your life everyday.

Also they didn’t get saved by the federacy it was literally Rei, shins brother who saved them all, he was backed up and copied to another legion, you can almost say he broke programming. So the symbolic visual of him the knight Durahan carrying shin is the soft representation of rei the legion carrying all of them in his liquid arms, when he stops and says this is as far as I can go it’s because he was killed again by the federacy that now has shin and the others. Which is why the president gives shin the chip back to show that rei was there

I'm gonna be honest. Since this episode and onward I hate Frederica's voice. Like her character was a bit grating but shes a kid and I don't mind it too much. But I can't stand her voice. On Tanya von Degurechaff its fine. On her, no.

I wonder if the "Empress" and Shin are related in some way. They both have brown hair and red eyes. I still think there is more to Shin's brother strangling him and blaming him for their parent's deaths. There is no way he tried to strangle his own brother just from frustration. We know how kind he was with Shin and even he rescued Lena, so it makes ZERO sense for him to go off the rails without any reason. Keeping that in mind, my theory would be that Shin is not related to his family or his brother by blood, but they had to take Shin and run away from the Giad Empire due to a power-struggle/Throne Succession. Then the family ended up in the Republic, which soon got attacked by Legion and all the "colored" people got sent to fight and die. Maybe the brother's reasoning was that his own family had to run from their home country to save Shin and ended up dying. TL;DR: There is definitely more to Shin, maybe his powers, or bloodline (maybe he was Royalty of Giad Empire).
