I can see the Ender's Game comparison, but it's more like Ender's Shadow because Bean actually knew that he was giving orders to real people as it happened and Ender didn't know until after they won and he was told. Part of what made Bean so much better a character than Ender. He knew what was up, but he still did his duty.

i am loving the small details they are adding visually as well, for example when a round hits one of the mechs it doesnt just bounce off and make sparks with no damage. it actually deforms the parts of the metal hit by the round and then causes the round to bounce off because its hitting the armor from the edge and not head on
