A player in LoL is called a summoner. Originally, in-universe, the institute of war employs summoners to summon heroes and have them fight in the summoner's rift. Since 2014, they have removed summoners in-universe lore, but players are still called summoners. Thus we have summoner spells. If you think about it, every match is literally just the holy grail war but 5v5, like Fate Apocrypha.

So just to try and clear some things up for y'all. The only relation this has to "League of Legends" is the story, other than that it has nothing to do with the game at all, this anime just puts the lore of the characters that are playable in "League of Legends" from text into an animation for all to enjoy. Do not worry about not playing the game because they introduce every character and scenario as if you know nothing of the lore. The only positive you would get out of this show by playing the game would be seeing characters you know in League of Legends on the screen. That is it. So there will be no relation to anything "League of Legends" related because this is just the story of a cast of characters that live in Piltover (Topside) and Zaun (Undercity).

Non-Spoiler: Ignore the "League of Legends" Stuff, LoL is just the Game, about the Player who is the Summoner and his Champions, which are these Characters - instead what you need to focus on will be well explained. This World, the Planet and its Spirit Realm(s) are way more than just the Game, its called "Runeterra" and is made of multiple Locations. The known Parts of Runeterra are separated in Valoran, Shurima, Ionia and Oceanic. This Part of the Show plays in Valorans South, in Piltover the City of Innovation and Progress, and the City beyond, Zaun the City of Iron and Glass. If you read this, you know enough about the World - most, or nearly all LoL Players dont know even this little bit of Lore, so you are not in an disadvantage.

The only Easter eggs are really just the characters, but don't sweat it, not knowing the game wont subtract from the plot. No one who plays league knows shit about the lore, so we're kinda all in the same boat.

As far as I know, the story will revolve around the sisters Jinx(powder) and Vi. Powder's in-game name is Jinx so when Mylo called her a Jinx it hint's at how she got her name, glad you guys liked the first episode!

Not sure why her throwing the bag in the water is such a bad thing. She had no way to fight back, and backed into a corner. Option 1: Attempt to fight, get clobbered, get the goods stolen. Option 2: Give up the goods to save your own ass. Now someone else has all that stuff. Option 3: Throw it in the water. Now they can't steal it from you. Granted, sure, maybe if she let them steal it, they could just steal it back. But there's no guarantee of that, and letting someone else take credit for stuff they acquired themselves is definitely worse than nobody having credit at all.

From what I've seen so far you don't need to know anything about League to enjoy the show; any references to League or it's characters is honestly just icing on the cake for those familiar with the game. After spoiling myself by searching a few character names, I realize that if you know the lore/world of LoL already, you could probably enjoy it less. The show hides a lot of stuff well, but it could easily feel like a drag if you're just waiting for the "punchline", because you know 'X' will become 'Z' or whatever lol.

I call BS. She messed up EVERYTHING, and it was done out of Fear and weakness. Option 1: Take the bag and run home the moment it was thrown to her. There shouldn't have been any more options if she did that, but no. So... Option 2:Do anything BUT run away from the people protecting you. Like I said, fear made her run. But utter Weakness is the thing that led to her tossing the stash. She literally F'd EVERYTHING because she's weak, mentally and spiritually.

As someone who has played the game for years, I can say not playing doesnt take anything away from the show. League of legends is a eclectic gathering of heroes/villains and was never meant to have a continuous and deep lore. It's only been in the past few years and especially now they are expanding on the universe. So you're not missing much besides recognizing the Easter eggs.

Yes, some of these characters are champions in the game, but I would suggest not spoiling it for the gang. It's basically like watching My Hero Academia, without knowing Deku is going to be the number 1 hero later.

Just know that a literal "league of legends" doesn't exist in the world - it's just the roster of 150+ playable characters who canonically may have never met each other - and when it comes to the series a lot of them won't. And as you'll see in episode two - the city they are in is a very small part of the world. Im talking concept wise dummy . Im not gonna sit here an type what is a MOBA (which I will for the sake of responding to your stupid comment) , a 5vs5 game where you destroy the opponent's ancient (I play Dota 2 bitches , the MOBAs for MEN) . What I was referring is that you basically pick some characters from different worlds, realities , cities , factions ,etc (all base on the first mod from W3 Defend of the Ancients) and just make them fight each other for your gameplay experience.

The point of smash is to fight. The point of MOBAs isnt to just fight. It is to destroy the opposing side’s crystal/base/wtv it is called in each game. You can win a MOBA match without getting a bunch of kills and fighting a lot. Even concept wise you just sound dumb im sorry. Just cause you pick a character in two games does not make them “like” each other, not at all. My brain hurt just reading the stupidity of the line “the game is basically super smash bros”

So the champions from the game that has showed up in this episode are Vi, Powder(Jinx), and Ekko(Little Man). In future episodes there is Jayce, Caitlyn, Viktor, Ryze, Heimerdinger, and Singed. There are also other theorized champions that has already showed up in the first 3 episodes but Riot hasn't confirmed them. This comment shouldn't be spoiler as all of these characters are known if you look up the LOL roster.

i think the really good comparison is with the FATE series. Think about how the heroes are summoned to fight in the grail war. Thats the same as LOL. The champions each have their own stories and lives but are summoned to fight on the battlefield.

The summoning aspect isn't a thing anymore afaik. They did a complete rework of their lore years back and from what I remember they just completely separated the gameplay from the world events. I could be misremembering though.

League of Legends isn't like the Justice League lol they aren't actually a group or anything just a bunch of Characters who have Legends/Lore and made a big impact on the LoL world, Positive or Negative. The game is just taking those characters and fighting it out (kinda like Overwatch)
