So like...do you think that Gugu purposely prepared his body to someday be one of Fushi's transformations? Remember how Gugu told fushi "When I die, i want you to become me" or something like that and fushi agreed? So like, what if Gugu purposely got super jacked specifically as like a final gift for his brother Fushi, the last gift he could give him, a body that can get shit done? Also, you saw how fushi was experiencing gugu's pain, right? So does that mean that Fushi felt each one of his transformations die and this is just the first time he was advanced enough in his learning to be able to articulate it? Because that puts even more of a tragic spin on the whole thing.

Nobody's the chosen one. Everyone dies.... that's the pattern so far anyway, and I feel like that's what both the op and the show itself imply. It's just you never know when someone is gonna die, or how they're gonna die. No context.... just imminent death for anybody Fushi gets close to. You have this sense of dread, anticipating the pain, but the show likes to stuff you with maximum wholesomeness at the same time you're feeling that dread. Honestly it's pretty sadistic, if you ask me. But for some reason, we all love this show, myself included. I guess we're a bunch of emotional masochists (obviously it's the storytelling and characters that make it good, but yeah).

From my understanding, the "Creator" didn't destroy the nokker when it fell into the ocean. I believe the rocks surrounding the nokker was so hot from Fushi's fire, that when it fell into the cold water, it exploded. So, I think it was literally just plain-old science that won Fushi the fight. RIP Gugu

i think because of the sadness with gugu, the fact that both gugu and march spirit is still there when over there heads.i only follow the anime version so im assuming any one fushi takes over there soul gets to choose if they stay with him?..since i remember the first time we saw this with march the bear walked away and march stayed.

Slight correction. The knocker was defeated because fushi superheated it was gugus flame breath. Then it quickly cooled off in the water causing it to crumble apart

I never read the manga or light novel but I immediately knew we were in for a bad time after they killed March. I almost dropped the anime knowing from that point Fushi was destined to meet people and watch them die since that comes with being immortal. Although it hurts me knowing we will most likely feel this way every arc, I am happy that you guys are along for this ride with us.

Watching this episode again made me cry again. Seeing those people gather around Gugu's body broke me, but what devastated me was Gugu as a ghost "hugging" what was essentially his family grieving over his death. Also just noticed that when Rean hugged "Gugu", Fushi asked himself the same question Gugu asked himself prior to his injury: "Why am I me?"

This show definitely does a great job of getting you attached to these characters in such little time. Gugu deserved better and I'm sure had he lived he would've lived a great life with rean.

Yea its rough guys. Its not the "Master" who beat the knocker it was the super-heated rock into the water that did it.. The intro isnt what you guys think it is and because i dont know how far in the series you guys will go i wont spoil what certain scenes are actually doing.. They do put up huge flags though. Literally everywhere. Like the old man saying he's sad he'll die before Gugu. Massive flag right there. At this point though, I wasn't surprised, the pattern of the show seems blatantly obvious once you get this far. It didn't surprise me in the slightest, but it is still sad.
