As far as Hayase goes in response to the intro, at first it was just her job. But then she discovered Fushi, and she became invested in discovering his secrets and harnessing the power. That investment turned into obsession, and then when Fushi clapped her, it became personal.

Yeah, Kenjiro Tsuda is the GOAT of VA's. Such a huge resume of awesome roles. Highly recommend you watch Way of the Househusband (Netflix). Very easy show to binge, he stars in it as a former yakuza turned househusband. It's hilarious.
