Bido just wanted to find his friend. He had nothing else to live for and he chose to risk his life to find greed only to be killed by him. Damn.

With Greed/Ling, Ling is actually allowing Greed to use his body. As you saw before, Ling can take it over at times that he needs to, but they are in a more symbiotic relationship. Ling allowed Greed in his body so he could become immortal. In exchange, he allows Greed to do whatever he wants, so they both win essentially. That's why Ling seems so calm inside and tells Greed that if he doesn't man up as the homunculus of Greed basically, that he will take his body back since Greed doesn't deserve the title.
