Y'know, I've never ascribed to the theory the bandits are working for Kuvira.. I mean, it's possible, but it's also equally possible it's ex-EK soldiers, since y'know, the entire kingdom collapsed after the Earth Queen died, and there's no way every single soldier stayed loyal, and thus it's entirely possible a group turned to banditry with the plane, as they totally would have had planes in the Earth Kingdom army by that point, especially since airships were likely one of the ways used to transport goods, so a plane would be useful to hijack airships. Additionally, Kuvira seems the type, even from just this episode, to do things herself and not do underhanded tactics, though the show does seem to imply it. It just seems a bit of a red herring to me that she'd be involved. Plus, something vaguely similar happened irl. America forced the Iraqi army to disband at some point after invading and all that stuff went down, and banditry, terrorist attacks etc. rose quite a bit as ex-soldiers turned to that line of "work".

Yeah they kept trying to push the love triangle nonsense on us for two and a half seasons. Like most of the reasoning behind the clusterfuck of season two was Korra being petty to her dad tenzin and mako. Meanwhile Asami, the only one of team avatar that isn't toxic, was trying to keep her shit together.
