I don't know if you've noticed but for the first couple episodes of this season, the characters are very static and don't move much when talking. I'm pretty sure it's because they had to hire out a different animation company for the first half of this season due to budget issues. In fact the whole first half of this season is a little different in terms of animation and art style because of this.

The fact that Korra fell for the whole "Avatar being neutral" thing still baffles me. Imagine Aang not fighting the Fire Lord cause he has to stay "neutral" lol

I think the whole "Avatar being neutral" thing makes sense generally speaking. However, it also is the Avatar's job to maintain peace and balance in the world so that's why it was Aang's role to stop the Fire Nation and end the war. But the Water Tribe Civil War is not as clear cut from an outsider's perspective as it's implied that technically they are one tribe under one leader and the fact that Korra is from the Southern Water Tribe complicates things for her personally.

I doubt they watch them beforehand. They just watch anime a lot, some themes are just easy to pick up on. It's not like they predict shit that's impossible to see. Look at season 1, they had no clue what Tarlok and Amon's deal was till like the last 2 episodes. I'd only be suspicious if they like predict something 10 episodes in advance, like predict the season finale type shit.

The B plot with Tenzin and his siblings is really quite sweet and an amazing piece of world building between the two series. I'm curious to see if the idea of Aang's legacy continues to be explored and Tenzin's growth as a character. Iroh was a mentor who pretty much already had it figured out, and Tenzin doesn't. These episodes sort of show how much he doesn't even as it shows off his strengths (tea party with sky bison babies, damn). Also, pretty sure it was the older daughter who sensed something in the Air Temple. I want that thread to be picked back up too, but no spirits in this 2-parter. Really enjoy watch this for the first time with y'all even if I'm months behind.
