I wonder if it's not the case that Lyza is watching through Reg himself (though, I'm withholding judgment on that weird lens on his helmet...). Rather, perhaps what's going on here is more of a Tower of God situation. Lyza finds Reg who knows nothing about the surface world. Then he gets curious or she sends him off (whichever) and he heads toward the surface only to lose his memory. But speech (and speech patters // habits) doesn't come from the memory center. Hence, he's forgotten about his time with Lyza, but still speaks with the habits he learned from her. That would be irredeemable, no?

Yeah he uses male pronouns to refer to himself. It doesn't translate well into English because we don't have me/I gendered pronouns. Marulk uses boku to refer to himself instead of watashi which is female. That's the reason Reg asked their gender to begin with because of the use of boku. With the English subtitles it seems to come out of nowhere but in the Japanese it's a natural question to ask based on his appearance vs how he refers to himself with male speech.

Yeah, I am scared of the Ocean as well. Not going to compare Fire vs Water though because getting burned hurts like hell. That was so cool! Ozen is so mysterious. Also, I think the subtitle was wrong when the Uncle explained Lyza and Ozen carried Riko to safety, because I think it said that Lyza was Ozen's Mentor, but it was actually Ozen that was the Mentor. Ozen must be mad old because they showed us Lyza being younger than Riko and Ozen was already known as White Whistle Ozen, the Immovable. It is fricken horrible to think about the amount of curses Ozen must have taken in diving for that long, but still continues to stand strong, a fricken Menace. Loving her already!

I think Roshi might actually be right that Lyza is watching over them through Reg in some way. Reg mentioned later that “there are several somebody inside of me”, and one of them looked like Lyza in that manga frame. It might not even be a coincidence that they use the same CV as Lyza as the narrator. We’ll see.
