Looking back, I should've heeded the warning signs when Kite handed off Ging's hunter license to Gon in that highlighted, heartfelt scene. That "passing of the torch" moment was definitely a red flag signalling Kite's fate.

When you said "Are they serious?!" I caught myself nodding at you, Roshi. Shit's about to get rough. Buckle the **** up. By the way, if you're interested, the phrase from Dr. Stone, 「　ルールはルールだ。」meaning "The rules are the rules," is pronounced, "Ruuru wa ruuru da." Japanese is a really fun language. Since you watch so much anime, you might enjoy trying to pick it up. Some of these anime get more entertaining when you can catch what they're really saying because they have a bad habit of doing these subtle re-writes in subtitles. It's understandable from an accessibility perspective, but still kind of a kill-joy sometimes, especially with comedy stuff. There's not much of that in this episode that I caught. It tends to apply to other anime more than HxH.

Eh, I'd argue this isn't really a shounen power creep cause the side characters had just as much significance as the MCs in the battles.

Togashi loves giving you hope every once in a while. Don't trust him. If he does something nice for the characters, it's cause there're bad things planned for them. The way Gon's eyes shone right before we see Kite's decapitated head is just amazing.

This is my biggest pet peeve with reactions to this lmao. They think Gon could surpass not just Kite but Pitou who beat kite without a scratch on her, just because he was "angry" (more like terrified and desperate).

yah when watching hunter hunter, reactors usually think that just because gon gets angry he can beat whoever he wants... he's not Goku, zenkai boosts don't exist here, gon is garbage in this world... for now let's say.

I love at how amazed Roshi is about Kite's En range of 45m. But in the Yorknew city arc, before the fight with Chrollo, Zeno said that his En can reach up to 300m. Meaning even Killua isn't aware of that at this point since he just said in this episode that "ive heard En masters can reach up to 50m"
