Its probably something more similar to how Morel's Deep Purple can copy the appearances of others. More tailored for the actual production of the game naturally. Morel is also a manipulator but specialized in something that isnt alive.

With enough high-level Nen, you could localize it on Greed Island to create these effects. Conjurer and Specialist would be enough

You keep questioning it but when I first watched this I just assumed everything confusing was someone’s Nen ability lol. Like how the npc exist in the real world I just assume it’s someone nen ability.

Now that I think about it, the NPCs might be actual people that are controlled by a manipulator's nen, similar to how Shalnark and Illumi control's people. Which is kinda sick.
