About the "I didn't use her bath water" thing, I believe in Japan the culture around bathing is different than in the western world. They usually clean and wash themselves *before* getting in the bath, use the bath to soak and relax rather than to wash themselves, and leave the bath water in for the next person to use after them. So that's why Kyo specifically notes that he didn't use her bath water - in Japan, normally they would share the same water.

I think this episode had some not so great translations like with the scene with Adachi and then the whole "Kyo" thing. Kyo means a few things and so that's why MC got confused cause of phrasing I guess.

I think a lot of cultures, Japan included, reuse the family’s bath water. That’s why they wash themselves first before getting in the bathtub. So it’s actually more unusual for Ichikawa to not use the bathwater.

it's not gross, you wash your body before you get into the tub so your pores open so when you use products after you get out of the tub your skin absorbs it. It's really good for your skin.
