As weird as Rudy saying "So you stripped her in the faculty office" was, it's because he often was stripped naked and had rocks thrown at him and shit, so he immediately mixed his traumatic past with that Norn was going through.

Don’t forget that Aisha is extremely gifted just like Rudy, so Norn’s really dealing with some insane inferiority complex. Something that isn’t emphasized in the anime is how big Rudy’s presence is at the school. He’s the strongest mage there, married to the second strongest mage, and has also befriended Princess Ariel, Prince Zanoba the Blessed Child, Demon King Badigadi, and is the boss of the two demi human princesses. It’s just not possible for Norn to avoid hearing about him.

They left out some info as to why being compared to Rudy really shut her down. Norn all her life has been compared to Aisha in academics and other subjects giving her an inferiority complex, and it doesn't help either that Aisha would flaunt it in her face constantly. When Rudy opened that chest from Aisha and he read the second letter that was new, it was written by Lilia. Lilia wrote to Rudy that he needs to support Norm with care and warmth as she noticed she feels inferior. She then told Rudeus to be stern to Aisha as she has a massive ego. Another bit was that the grandmother would put Norm down for being "dumber" than a concubine's child. So when Norm finally got to the school she felt she could start fresh now that Aisha won't be there, but then everyone started doing the same thing but with Rudy as the model, and the rest was scene in the episode.

I wanted to wait for this episode just in case it was explained, but it's been a month or so since they moved in. Aisha also crammed and pulled all nighters studying for that test. So that and everything her mom and their grandma fed her verbally is wound up in her reaction. aka She worked really hard to study and get 100s on all subjects for that test.

Sheera the issue wasn't Norn's need to go to school (she was going to go to school either way), its that she got to live in the dorms even though their Dad told them to stay with Rudeus. So Norn got a bad score and still got to live in the dorms like she wanted, but Aisha had to get a good score to get what she wanted.

Something that got cut out from this, was that norn was always afraid That rudius would beat her, during a few of the scenes in the anime You see her looking at his hand in a fist. It was subtle but it was meant to be hinted at her fear of him hitting her which she even says one time before she starts crying.

Love the portrayal of the fact that he is indeed still very much traumatized. Immediately pulled up on her class and started projecting his trauma on them. But it was also that trauma that helped him empathize with what she was going trough, allowing him to properly show her that he understands and wants to help. His brother gave him an example of how not to reach someone going through this type of trauma. Also the brief flash of Rudy looking like Paul to Norn was cool, he was probably giving off those same vibes of a hurt/broken man still trying to pull himself together to take care of their loved one. I really want to see more of his relationship with his family in his previous life, I'm craving something like what Subaru went through seeing his family in the trials

As first impressions go it's a hard pill to swallow as a start for a MC. Rudy got a new start and obviously grew from it, no one can judge him for those past things. But as viewers who can look back at that stain it's hard for some to not refer back as an irredeemable flaw.
